No love for klatt, his terrible network makes him a B12/PAC12 shill.

I was just surprised by the stat. This year he's taken a special interest in a&m calling them a fraud and doubling down each week. Saying they won't finish top 10 but still put them in his top 10 this week.

LSU Football has everything a good HC needs to be very successful immediately. And I mean successful as in top 10 finishes. The LSUHC position is a top ten coaching job, imo. This was NOT true in the 1990s but it is undeniably true now.

What's changed from the 90s to today?

It's certainly not just an "ok" job.

The dedication to winning has. Saban convinced them to spend dollars in facilities, on coaches, and whatever other resources it takes to compete. That was not there in the 90s.

Even if it was, this is our program in its "down" years:

Finished 35th in the 90s. Worst decade by far, only one outside top 25

If you have to use decades where you were only a top 20 program (70s/80s) to insult a school that school probably has a pretty proud history of being good a football

I agree with you. He's saying it's not blue blood which he named 6 schools as. Even Aggy and Colorado had more top 10s in that stretch.

I think a more interesting question is Miami. Pops up once in awhile, wins couple titles, then disappears into the abyss haha.

90s were the anomoly, not the 2000s. That's what most people on this board don't understand

LSU was Elite 1934-1989, what changed in 1989 is the more appropriate question. Whatever it was it was fixed in 2000.

The 70s 80s and 90s are the outlier but the 2000s were the norm. Because you liked them better. Ok.

They were a historically mediocre team until Saban arrived, and he got out as soon as he could.

When Saban was at LSU, a&m was firing their winningest coach ever so they could take the next step up. They're still waiting to take that next step up.

You aren't very good at this...

I said the 90s were the anomoly not the 2000s.

The 90s are the only decade we were not a top 25 program, dropping all the way down to 35th.

what's so bad about the 70s and 80s? We were a top 20 program.

We were top 10 in the 60s, top 20 in the 70/80s, then fell off the map in the 90s just to return back to top 10 in the 2000s

It's not the same job at all as it was in those decades.

You are wrong again. We had 3 top 10 finishes in the 70s and 80s. Including 3 more finishes at #11, one whole spot away.

He's probably pretty close. Before 2000 nobody paid much attention to LSU. They'll tell u different but those of us who were around in the 70s -90s regarded them as horseshite.
Somebody actually bragged they have been ranked 20 something percent of their football life

Bama has been ranked 68 percent of the time.

No, before 2000 they were pretty much a non issue.

27% of seasons ended ranked top 10 in the final AP poll. I wouldn't brag about your reading retention or comprehension if I were you.

The 90s are what tarnished our reputation.
