I'm certainly not denying the fact that Saban was a failure in the NFL. The whole purpose of this thread is because of the possibility of Harbaugh going to Michigan. Shanahan's name has been occasionally tossed out in discussions of college jobs, yet no one mentions him seriously.

You are LOLing like some LSU fans were about Saban succeeding at Bama. We see how that turned out.
Exactly. If their was a message board in 1952, people would have Lolololololed about Bear being better than Rockne

In 2001, Message boards would have about Saban being better than Spurrier.

Are you arguing that Harbaugh isn't even in the mix here?

What has he ever done in college? His college coaching is a COMPLETE UNKNOWN

So a guy like Buddy Ryan had "success at the highest level". Ok.
You realize Harbaugh has a 15% higher win percentage and 5 more post-season wins than Ryan in one less year, correct?

Great analogy.

Such a stupid line. In 2001, if we said we thought Saban would be better than Gene Stallings and Spurrier, were we dumbfricks? At some point, every good coach, player, person etc has less accomplishments than the people that went before them

But you are asking to compare them. So, you got to go with accomplishments to date not some guess for tomorrow.

Hey, the other guy was the one who set that definition, not me.

No, we are asking who you think is better.

Not at all. We have to speculate completely, no matter which side you are on

How? Can you please list your reasons? Jim Harbaugh has proven that he can win at Stanford but he is most definitely not the first coach to ever prove that.

No one is asking to compare them. They are comparable. I don't know how many times I have to tell you this.

12-1

Saban's comparable program to Stanford is Michigan State where he had no where near the success

LSU fan, great high dollar job in Nashville, can't grasp that "compare" and "comparable" are synonymous.

So far

Mid tier programs as coaches at 44 years old

Dead push, so comparable there

NFL coach. both at 48 years old I beleive

Harbaugh far better than Saban

So there are your comparisons.

And right now that is easily Saban. Anyone who disagrees is either a troll or just stupid. He had one spectacular season at Stanford before leaving for the NFL to coach one of the most talented teams in the league. I have no doubt he is a good coach, but to say he's better than Saban right now is just asinine.

1935 and 2010. What do those years have in common? Stanford's most recent one loss seasons

So you would have been wrong about Saban in 2011, wrong about the bear in 1952, wrong about Jimmy Johnson in the 1980s, wrong about Tom Landry in the 1960s, and I could go ON and On and On and On
