Sorry had to laugh at that.

lol ok. How exactly did Bret Bielema luck into a superstar?
Well, I could bring up Russell Wilson but that wasnt really the point. The point is that his record against good teams at Wisconsin was pretty abysmal but Arkansas fans just assume he will translate to the SEC. At least Sumlin has had success IN the SEC. There just arent alot of Indianas, Purdues, Illinois, Minnesotas and Northwesterns in the SEC.

He was a transfer, but Bielema and staff brought him in. JFF was already on the roster when Sumlin got to A&M. Same way Keenum was already on the roster when he got to Houston.

Wait...you mean the majority of his losses were to the better teams in the league. No wai! That stat is pretty misleading too.

meh. John L wins at least 7 with JFF. Gene Chizik won 14 with Cam Newton (and A&M fans say JFF is better all the time).

No, but there are Vanderbilts, Kentuckys, Missouris, Mississippi States, Ole Miss, and Texas A&Ms.

It worked for Bama with Barrett Jones though but Joeckel is the 1st overall pick Thursday so he's pretty good and will be tough to replace
That Jones guy I heard was pretty good...until I watched Nealy destroy him.

Russell Wilson was a proven commodity, a certifiable stud, before Bielema ever touched him. Manziel had never taken a college snap and Keenum had only started six very "meh" games when Sumlin got ahold of them. If you're going to take the inheritence route, just know it doesnt play in your favor. One could just as easily argue Sumlin made those QBs.

59 of his 68 wins at Wisconsin were against unranked teams (with less than 20 coming against FBS teams that finished with winning records) or FCS programs. He was 9-17 against ranked teams, that's only 35%.
Meanwhile, Kevin Sumlin is 8-2 against ranked teams.

Try harder.

John L. Smith would have Taylor Bertolet at QB and Johnny Manziel at kicker

Yes. Bielema also won with QBs like Scott Tolzien. Wisconsin had some QB issues this year and still won 7 regular season games. Sumlin's teams have QB issues and they watch bowl season on tv.

lol yea it does. If Manziel sucked so bad before he met Sumlin, then why were schools like Oregon interested in him? Why were certain high school coaches speaking so highly of him?

I guess you could. If you're delusional.

3 conference titles. Still a misleading stat.

Cool. 3 fewer conference titles. In Conference-USA. If we're going by recruiting rankings (and I hate doing that) Houston was one of the more talented teams in that league, but they were never its champion Sumlin's tenure. Meanwhile, Wisconsin was one of the least talented teams in the Big 10 and represented the league in the Rose Bowl 3 times.

If JFF was a Spartan in the movie 300, the movie would just be called "one"
Posted on 4/23/13 at 4:37 pm to Arkansasrazorback
Whatever. If you're going to say I dont have a point, then dismiss the stats that show I do, there's no point in discussing this. Nothing is going to change your mind.

Check most good coaches' (not the greats like Saban or Meyer) records against the better teams and you will see much of the same. I think Spurrier has a losing record against ranked teams at USC. Dispute 3 conference titles other than saying that 2012 was by default. Two is still a bigger number than zero.

Two things:
1 - This means that Sumlin does have the record of a great coach, no? Rhetorical, he actually has the highest win percentage against ranked teams among coaches with at least ten opportunities.
2 - This means Bielema is not great, no? Again, rhetorical. His 35% going into this season ranks him eigth in the conference, behind Sumlin, Saban, Miles, Richt, Spurrier, Muschamp and Pinkel (yeah, Pinkel).
He racked up wins against bad teams.

Yea, it's hard for me to argue against John L being a complete retard.

C-USA staaaaaaccckkkked. Gene Chizik beat a shitload of ranked teams in 2010, he must be the bestest coach evar. Sumlin has to prove himself w/o Manziel, and win with a QB he develops. I've never heard of a record against ranked teams ring. However, I have heard of conference championship rings.

And Klarvin, yt he UF game is just 1 example, their are others, like the 21 - 0 victory over LSU are you forgetting?
Sumlin can take all the credit he wants for ONE victory over Saban.....ONE
His record will be tied 1 - 1 after 9/14
The record bears it out these revenge games are usually not pretty for Bama's opponents
