He should have NEVER left South Carolina. I understood the appeal of coaching his alma mater, but that was a bad career move.

Sources told VolQuest.com that Jones had attempted to renegotiate Graham's current UT pact for more money. Graham's salary was one of the Vols' lowest-paid assistant coaches on the new staff, earning $260,000.

Poor guy, only made $260K a year! How could he survive on that?

He made $175,000 under Spurrier and got something like $50,000 raise from Butch after last season under Derek Dumbass...

That being said, Butch's "Best Staff in America" is really looking so good right now... Especially an overpaid OL coach who cannot recruit.

For the Vols to remain competitive in recruiting, they have to go Trooper or even former USCw OC and Jags RB coach Kennedy Polamalu jmo

He couldn't seal a big running back, but had UT in the running. Was making headway in the Carolinas and got four-star WR Marquise North... I was still wait and see on his recruiting. He can get you there, but can he close?

I think UT could make better headway in this "legacy class" with Kelly, the Berry Twins etc. without him tho...especially if the NCAA doesn't drop the boom on Troop

but he recruited 0 RB.

RB and WR position coaches are easily replaceable. we will be fine.

Gene Stallings was hired at Alabama as HC for $104K a year in 1990. The salary explosion for coaches has just been unreal.

Loyalty runs out pretty quick when another school puts more cash on the table. It would for me if I were in his shoes. He was VASTLY underpaid imo.

This is the correct answer. He was by far our best recruiter, yet was snubbed on the recruiting coordinator title; and as previously mentioned was either the lowest or second lowest paid coach on the staff.

Our staff are terrible recruiters. The only reason we landed the class we did is because of Jay. Without him, we are looking at a class ranked in the 50's.

I don't think it's catastrophic losing him, but it's definitely not for the better.

I can't believe the football program has gotten this bad.
