Jamie is on drugs...but doesn't matter...its opinion not fact. Kelvin Taylor was one of the most sought after RBs out of high school...but everyone shied away cause they knew he had Gator blood in him.

Wouldn't surprise me if we finish 6-8th in SEC rushing. We aint throwing the ball 45 times a game.

Not even a little bit when discussing the best RB in the league.

What is the point of the game then? How do you rate how good an RB is?

You judge them by more than just yards. It's not really that complicated.

YPC, defenses faced, etc. Pick a metric

Ugh then please just lay it out there. Every Bo vs walker fight normally comes down to people throwing down yards per carry.

You are trying to make it more complicated than it actually is.

Not really.

Saying back A is better than back B because he ran for more yards is ignorant.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, this has to do with your RB. I get it now.

Some of Derrick Henry's numbers from last year:

7 carries for 25 yards against Arkansas

8 carries for 24 yards against LSU

17 carries for 37 yards against Ole Miss

11 carries for 36 yards against Mississippi State

His team went 3-1 in those games, so I'm sure he's not sweating your stat watching. That said, some more of Derrick Henry's numbers from last year:
WVU - 17 carries, 113 yds, 6.6/carry, 1 TD
UF - 20 carries, 111 yds, 5.6/carry, 1 TD
A&M - 10 carries, 70 yds, 7.0/carry, 1 TD (also had 1 catch for 41 yards and a TD)
AU - 5 carries, 72 yds, 14.4/carry, 1 TD
Mizz - 20 carries, 141 yds, 7.1/carry, 2 TDs (SEC Champ)
OSU - 13 carries, 95 yds, 7.3/carry, 1 TD

What a stud!

most - including the AU defense and staff - would agree

No he said yards don't even make a little bit of difference. Defenses faced? We are all in the SEC and face most of the same defenses. If you are wanting a "swag" factor then that's fine, but it doesn't change the fact that the job of the RB is to get as many yards as possible

Because spread offenses and read options weren't being used then. Bo and Herschel just lined up and ran right at you, there wasn't any form of trickeration like there is today. I've made this comparison before and I'll make it again: What Hawaii and Texas Tech were to passing numbers, Auburn is to rushing yards.

It has to do with any RB. More yards does not automatically make you better.

I mean, unless you think Tre Mason was better than Todd Gurley, Melvin Gordon, Jeremy Hill, Carlos Hyde, and James White in 2013?

So now we are just having to base how good a player is based on an eye test instead of real numbers? This sounds like a cop-out.

One of us has a reading comprehension problem then.

Tre was as good as any one of them that season. Dude was taking the ball 30 times a game and slicing D's up. The small holes he was getting through was amazing to watch.

I wasn't saying, or insinuating, that yards don't matter.

I understand your point, but Tre isn't a good example. He was a beast in 2013.

He was very good in 2013, but that doesn't mean he's more talented than the backs I listed.
