the coaching staff making him be absolutely sure we have wide open WRs before throwing the ball. He doesnt really ever throw a WR open or throw it ahead of time. Rather he could if he was allowed to we just dont know at this point.

This is wishful thinking. Saban has said repeatedly we have to work on getting the ball out on time. I can promise you, nobody is encouraging him to hold onto the ball until the receiver is wide open. You don't teach people how to pass by teaching them how to pass wrong.

Yea, we saw those convincing wins over Southern Miss and Missouri and realized we have no shot.

Don't want to play? You guys have lost your damned minds. You realize there is something in between "WER TERRIBLE" and "EVERYONE IS TERRIFIED OF US", right?

Jalen Hurts
Not a troll thread, but a serious question to Bama fans. How good of a passer is Hurts really?

Hurts is extremely cool under pressure and a great athlete, but my impression is that Hurts benefits from Kiffin's schemes and play calling which allow for easy completions. Hurts looks inaccurate when throwing the ball downfield on routes 15 yards plus. Hurts completes some longer throws because receivers are so open. Hurt left a lot of yards off the stat sheet against Rocky Top because he couldn't hit receivers in stride.

Again, not a troll, just seeking honest evaluation.

Lets put it this way. Hurts' NFL potential is ZERO.

Definitely not an NFL arm, but has good running instinct and a good enough arm to be very effective in college. I don't mind if his completion rate drops to 50 percent, as long he doesn't throw interceptions. He seems to better at making decisions on when to run and when to pass.

Now that LSU has a QB that can manage the offense, LF is returning and the Ragin Aisian is running the defense, Bama and the rest of the SEC, as evidenced by Florida, are concerned.

We always want to play L5U, but after you lose to Ole Piss it will make the Bama/LSU game irrelevant.

Because a true freshman's first 7 games tells you everything you need to know about how they will be in three our four years.

I honestly think it will come down to who makes the throws when they play a&m.

Not the greatest passer down field, but neither was coker half way through the season last year. He will only get better, but if we keep killing people it doesnt really matter how good he throws a deep ball, does it?

Works well in practice when you can work out the kinks as the experience is gained. Not so much when we can lose games over it. I firmly believe the coaching staff has given him some more conservative instructions on this. We are not treating these games as practice to bring him along as quick as possible by letting him learn from his mistakes so that we can possibly do really well in 2 years. Its all about winning a championship this year and you construct the game plan around your strengths.

Both you and Teague have compelling arguments/theories. Interesting discussion to say the least.

the biggest issue is timing at this point. he's got a really strong arm and good accuracy. he's got a lot of room to improve but improving his timing will improve his accuracy.

This is it. Very accurate analysis.

This 247 ranking of best college players of the year has Hurts ranked 3rd best qb in the SEC.
