Funny you mention Murray. As a fan of a school who plays you every year (well since 92 and a lot before that), the two best qb's I've seen from Georgia were Eric Zeier and David Greene.
Murray was an infinitely better college player than Greene.

Playing Murray we were always waiting for him to throw an interception or an incompletion
Murray's 2013 game against a good South Carolina team was one of the better games of his career. Greene was really good at getting into the right play, but there is no way in hell he could have made some of the plays Murray did that day, particularly the 85 yard TD pass late in the game when he got away from Clowney.
quote:
Wouldn't surprise me if Stafford went unbeaten against South Carolina, but I watched every game he played against us, and I never got the same fear of him driving a stake into our hearts I got with Zeier and Greene.
He didn't. UGA lost to South Carolina in 2007.

Well if you say so.
I do want to point out that Georgia lost 3 straight to us prior to that 2013 game, and a key feature in all 3 of those losses were Murray mistakes.
Funny how it works. Take rb's for example. Gurley, Moreno, Chubb all have or had a lot of national recognition, stats, and kudos.
But the guy you had at rb the past few decades who scared me the most was Robert Edwards. He scared me when he was on the field. Whatever big numbers the other guys put up, I always had the feeling they could be stopped. With Edwards I was always scared I'd blink and then see him trotting into the end zone after an 80 yard run.
Well I forgot to include Herschel, but not going that far back.
And I still can't quite figure how any Georgia guy can rate Murray or Shockley over David Greene. I've watched a lot of the games we've played you guys since... sometime in the 70's? (Most of them on TV though).
Really don't remember Buck Belue, but Zeier and Greene are the best two qb's I've seen from you guys in that time.

2 of those games you scored 45 and 35 points. Actually a perfect recap of Murray's career, in that we seemed incapable of giving him good consistent defenses during his time here.
Give Murray the UGA defenses of the early 2000's that Greene and Shockley had and he holds a crystal football or two, no doubt.
And if you think Robert Edwards was better than Todd Gurley you're simply stupid.

If anything, he's a pass happy OC that neglects the RB position.
If so, makes you wonder why Michel and Chubb returned.
Edit: In 2016, UGA had 533 Rushing attempts and 386 Pass attempts.

Jake Fromm is gonna take his job by end of the season.

Guy lost to ole Miss last year. Couldn't throw a td. Great qb.
He threw a couple of tds vs ole miss. Both were dropped.

You clearly missed 2001 and 2002 and 2004

The drops from our WR's were at a ridiculous level. 60-70% of his picks were flukes. And the online gave him Zero time, which I imagine can be a problem for a true freshman qb not from the south. Eason is gonna look like a whole nother animal this year.

I'd be thrilled if he transferred to LSU.

I have no idea what you are driving at. Georgia lost one of those, won the other two.
Believe Greene was the qb all of those years? (Unless Quincy Carter was still around in 2001?)

I don't think Fromm ever starts.
I believe the replacement for Eason will be in this class.

I am saying Greene didn't look good in those games, so what on earth are you smoking?

Reading comprehension not your friend? I was specifically describing Chaney's tenure at Tennessee.

Do you judge qbs on how good they play or if they are on the winning team?
