It's okay to be a sidewalk fan. It's just a hell of alot different when you attend the school.

I could see it being marginally different, depending on the situation. I doubt there's a huge difference, though. For someone who grew up near the University and attended games his entire life until ultimately getting some technical degree and starting his own company (this is my best friend's story), do you think his love for the University is less than someone who moved here from Cali, got a 4 year degree and then went to grad school in New York? Is his fandom less pure because he never attended classes at the University campus he practically lived on growing up?

Give me the guy who has lived there his whole life, whose love for UA has been a part of his entire life, over someone who lived there for 4 years and never returns.

Can you post a picture of your rings? I'm pretty jelly already and want to see how bad it can get. UK tried to send me a 2012 NC ring but I don't like basketball so I turned it down. Just curious to see if your fan rings are as awesome as UK's. TIA

I get saying "we" when you went to school there. But "our rings" is a little much.

Just like if you attend the nfl team you root for it's better.

Why only use this rule in college sports

Surely I don't have to spell out the uncomplicated differences.

No need for a shift of anything. You don't like kissing the championship rings, you can bow your arse down and kiss our class rings.

I root for a football team I like to watch. Whenever they play I watch them.

There isn't anything magical about being a fan.

In terms of "sidewalk fandom" why the frick would they want to be an Auburn fan? I, as the OP stated, am a graduate of UA. For instance, if I a sports fan moved to New York, wouldn't the obvious choice to make would to be a Yankees, Giants, Knick, Rangers fan? I used New York as my example bc of multiple teams across multiple sports. LA - why would you be a Clippers fan? Same principal here - people like historically successful teams. Point blank. The obvious choice is obvious.

You will NEVER get them to believe this.

Only Alabama has fans that didn't go to school there. EVERY school in the SEC besides Bama has nothing but alums as fans. Don't you know anything?

He averages approximately 2,100 posts per year.

You average approximately 2,800 posts per year.
