It will be difficult for Oregon to jump Bama in the next few weeks (assume both win out), unless voters in coach's poll and/or Harris poll really hate to see a LSU/Bama rematch and make an extraordinary effort to vote Oregon ahead of Bama, which seems unlikely to me.
Oregon's resume for the next 3 weeks doesn't stand out, and on the other hand, Bama would actually play (and should beat) a ranked Auburn team. Bama is now leading Oregon by 0.0344 in the BCS ranking, and that's a small but somewhat comfortable margin. I just don't see how 1 more lackluster beat-down against ASU/UCLA/USC could propel Oregon to overcome that margin.

Wrong. It makes no difference to most LSU fans which one of you gets beaten again.

Those sanctions have nothing to do with them being a quality win or not. They can't go to a bowl game and they're down a few scholarships (which hasn't really effected them all that much yet). That win is going to help Oregon in the polls and in the computers -- especially if they are dominant.
The bottom line really is that IF (big if) LSU beats Arkansas, Alabamas only accomplishment on the season will be a win over a top-15 team. That's it. No others. The next best team on your schedule would be one of UF, Penn St, or Auburn.

Why are there 10 times more rematch related threads/comments on here by LSU fans than Bama fans? It's almost like the LSU fanbase is scared shitless at the prospect...

Probably because there are 100x more LSU fans here than Alabama fans?
Derp? 3 in a row next year is going to be awesome. Then the 4th year -- we'll have a senior QB and it will be back in Tiger stadium to try and make it 4 straight

Oregon--meh. They only won at Stanford because Stanford turned the ball over 5 times.

Ted Miller: USC's omission from the coaches' poll should not affect Pac-10 teams in the BCS standings. It would only affect USC's position in the BCS standings, if that were relevant.
There is no longer a specific "strength of schedule" component in the BCS standings. Obviously, the computer rankings incorporate a "strength of schedule" rating in their formulas. And we don't always know those exact formulas (some insist it is proprietary information) but based on what they tell us, the national polls don't play a role in their formulas -- record and opponents' record (and the record of opponents' opponents) does.
In other words, if Oregon is fighting among other one-loss teams for a spot in the BCS title game, and one of the Ducks' major achievements is a win over an 11-1 USC team, that win will get full credit in the BCS formula.
Moreover, the AP polls will continue to rank USC (it has always been considered the more significant poll). So that potential ranking of the Trojans will be available for voters in the Harris and coaches' poll to base an evaluation of what competing against the Trojans would mean.
ESPN.com's college football writers had a conference call Monday with BCS executive director Bill Hancock and he concurred: USC's omission from the coaches' poll shouldn't hurt other Pac-10 teams in the BCS standings.
Said Hancock: "I don't believe so. Having said that, it's hard to know how human voters will perceive things. My sense is, at least in the past, when folks have been on probation, it really didn't affect the rankings significantly. I don't believe it will have an effect and it certainly won't have an effect in the computer rankings."
Still, if a conference team is in the national title hunt, it will be interesting to see how things stack up when the BCS standings are first published.

Exactly. LSU fans would be making the same argument wanting a rematch if they had lost.
It doesn't matter - this is another season that indicates NCAA Div. 1 football needs a playoff system. I truly believe that Bama, OSU, Oregon, OU and even stanford can all beat each other on any given day.
