Amount of games is not the difference maker with the computers. If it was, Ark, Vtech, Stanford, BSU and clemson would all be ranked ahead of OK in the computer polls.

Computers or not -- idle teams are punished. If EVERY team had one loss, you'd be looking at LSU vs Oregon or LSU vs Oklahoma based on their accomplishments over the course of the season.

Oregon vs LSU is more likely than LSU vs Alabama because Oregon has the better resume.

I'll just have to disagree. At this point both human polls have Bama voted ahead of Oregon. So to this point the voters say Bama is the better team. Both have one more "challenge" game, USC and #24 AUburn. That is a wash. The voters will not vote Oregon ahead of Bama based on them beating a five or six loss UCLA team, will not happen.

The conference champion isn't a rule.. and if ALL teams had one loss, LSU would clearly have the best resume. They'd be considered very heavily.. and probably make it in.

They'd be considered heavily, but it's as if some people just convenienlty think the very last impression will mean nothing to voters. The very last impressions before the final BCS vote in that scenario would be:

1) LSU LOSING to #11 or #12 Georgia
2) Oregon WINNING a Pac 12 championship
3) Oklahoma beating Okie State therefore winning the Big 12 Championship.
4) Oklahoma State beating Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championship.

If #4 occurs, LSU has to hope voters still think a team that lost its last game and DID NOT win its own conference would be more deserving than a team that has won 12 straight games that just won its conference championship.

Not true at all. Oregon is sitting at #4 right now.

And their computer scores will drop them the next two weeks. Oregon is done.

Oregon: 4, 7, 5, 3, 5, 4
Avg: 4.66

Alabama: 3, 3, 4, 4, 3, 3
Avg: 3.33

Closer than I thought tbh. As Penn St loses out, Alabama players Georgia Southern, and Auburn loses again.. Oregon has a great chance to pass Bama. If LSU beats Arkansas it's a done deal.

It's not just the computers.. the human voters look at accomplishments, and once LSU beats Arkansas, Alabama will have none.

Oregon plays USC this week -- a quality win. If Oregon is dominant they might pass Alabama this week.

at the end of the year the voters will re-order in order to produce what they believe is the correct match-up for the final game...just like they did in 2007.

You realize, USC is on sanctions and not ranked. Not a quality win and will not help Oregon one bit in the computers. Then they follow up with a 2-8 Oregon State.

I think Oklahoma would probably jump Alabama if they won just because even BIG 12 teams like Texas A&M and Baylor have incredibly high computer numbers.

However, it seems that most LSU fans coming up with a million anecdotal reasons why most voters will lower Alabama never take into account that many voters will also feel simply that Alabama is the best team, period.

Which I'm sure most LSU fans completely agree with and is why they, understandably, want Oregon or Oklahoma instead.

From a competitive standpoint I don't think any LSU fan would be worried about playing Bama in the Superdome. My main points against LSU playing Bama (assuming LSU is undefeated at that point), is it would 1)render the game in November virtually meaningless and 2)basically reward Bama for losing that game, thus not having to risk losing the opportunity in the SECCG.

As I stated earlier, I think voters will consider key games played in November as "playoff" games when considering Oregon, Oklahoma and Alabama...not who they think is the best team.

Same as the Oregon game, which is being trumpeted by some here, if Okie St loses. No different.

If the BCS CG isn't about who is #1 and who is #2, then the AP is as legit as the BCS, as is any other "poll" awarding anything.

a little different because of when it was played, but the voters may consider that if they come down to Oregon and Oklahoma...

it is about that, but the voters are going to rank the final rankings based on who deserves to be there, not who they think is the better team. I'm sure there are plenty of voters who believe Alabama would beat LSU if they played again tomorrow, why aren't they voting Alabama #1?

Frankly, I don't care if they vote Bama #1 if they feel Bama is better right now. I just want them voted #2 if Okie St loses.

Actually, USC is still factored into the computer ratings. They just get taken out at the end of the process and everyone ranked below them moves up 1 spot. So if Oregon beats USC on Saturday, the computers will give them credit for beating the 18th ranked team.

Oregon would also be a rematch, but that game was lost long time ago and since then Oregon has played like a NC team.

UO has played better, but I'd stop short of calling them NC quality...remember, they play in the P12.

Fixed and agree.

Agree.

So then OK and Okie St are playing a playoff game to see who goes?

I think the computers are going to heavily favor the Ok State/OU winner and bama/oregon will be on teh outside looking in

If LSU loses to arky it gets more interesting but LSU might still back into the NCG if they beat UGA

I'm rooting for LSU to play OU or Ok State (esp Ok State) because I'd like to see them beat everyone else with an argument this year. But honestly I'll take a NC any which way it might come to LSU
