I say...I don't much care one way or the other about how legit you think a national title from 60 years ago is. 10...14...either way it's more than LSU's got, and the fact that it's stuck in your craw so bad is pretty sad. I feel bad for you almost.

there are Bama style claims(half of Bama's titles and UT's 1940 and 1967) and there is that completely bogus claim even Bama homers are embarrassed with: the 1941 claim
In 1941 Bama lost to Vandy and Mississippi State. no conference title and barely finished top 20 in polls. I don't know who came up with that retroactive 1941 title idea.

I hear the argument about "who cares, its still more then anyone else including LSU" and that's totally true. Never argued that, hopefully LSU becomes a super dynasty and makes a run at that mythical number in my life time.
But if that's the case, why stop there? How many years has Bama played football? 100 and change? Lets claim 67 titles, f**k it.
Somewhere in there, credibility should become relevant. But given what I've seen this thread, gumps don't seem to care.

MNC means mythical. Many schools claim NC's that others don't. Schools history, schools SIG, publish as you please. The only contention I've seen is when the expectation is for those outside the fanbase to have the same chant. For instance Michigan dwarfs anything UA is called out for. They have 2 AP titles, but claim 11...9 from 1901 to 1947 (I think 6 were retroactive). If a UA fan asks me if 'Got 14?' I just say 14 what? and move on. If asked 'Got 9?' I say no, congrats, and move on. Might be 15 and 10 after tonight, we'll see. Hopefully playoffs will cure a lot of this, as other awards fade into the past.

More than half of our title claims have come in the poll era. There is no disputing any of those (save '41).

This is how I know you are a dumb arse. You actually believe we claim a new title every single year. In 1983, our SID said we have 11 national championships. Since then, we've only added to that total when we actually WON a national championship (1992, 2009, and 2011 in case you have forgotten). You speak of Alabama's lack of integrity for claiming so many titles, and yet you say not a word about USC retroactively adding 1939 to their national championship list just 10 years ago. You have an agenda, sir, and care nothing for the truth.

Nothing bothers fans of inferior SEC programs more than Alabama's national championships. It is a constant reminder of how shitty teams like LSU have been over the decades when compared to the G.O.A.T Alabama Crimson Tide.

Because much too often you hear gumps (not accusing you or anyone here specifically) saying "14 national titles bitch!" or something of the like.. Let's put this in perspective, if Bama wins tonight you will have witness Alabama winning the same amount of MNC in 4 years that LSU have in the history of their program.
And more than Auburn in the history of their program.
