Moving on, It makes me happy when some Bama fans make this claim because it just reminds me that they are stupid and don't know much about college football. Straight up. And before you on the offensive, I am fully aware that LSU has its fair share of dumb/obnoxious/arrogant/whatever you want to call them as well. Lets be honest, every team has them, no exceptions.
The difference is, not many other fan bases tend to carry such an egregious lie/exaggeration as a "calling card" or motto if you will.
Here's my question for knowledgeable Bama fans, and many of you I know know your stuff:
Do you make this claim too along with the masses? Do you ever correct your fellow bama fan?

After reading your insightful post, I clicked on your link expecting to read an intellectual discussion. Instead I found mindless drivel.
Here's the thing: I am happy to go with the AP poll prior to the BCS era as the be all and end all of college football national championships. The entire college football world recognized it as such. And Alabama, by winning their ninth tonight, will have more than anyone else.
Your linked article was moronic, because it calls out Alabama for claiming the 1964 title which was awarded before the bowls, yet it ignores the fact that Alabama doesn't claim 1966 even though Notre Dame not only had a tie but refused to play in a bowl. So it's really simple...certainly simple enough for you to understand: If final polls taken before bowls don't count, then none of Notre Dame's national championships in years where they refused to play in bowls count, either.

I agree 1941 is a bogus as a $3 bill. The ones prior to the poll era were all awarded to teams who were undefeated and many of whom won the Rose Bowl so Bama has as much claim to them as anyone. The ones where Bama split the UPI and AP when those were awarded before the Bowl game...well, that was how they did it back then so what's wrong with Bama and whatever other school both claiming it? Kind of like USC and LSU in 2003 or Miami and Washington in 1991. I don't go around talking about how many titles Bama has unless I encounter a really obnoxious LSU fan who wants to have a dick measuring contest and run down Bama's program. Then and only then will I play the "14 card".

I don't accept 1941. The problem is, if this were your school, would you argue down the championships they claim for themselves? It's not like this is completely made up - a somewhat legitimate poll ranked them #1. If I were counting the national championships, I'd drop 1941 and count 13. But that's not my call. By the way, no college football fan outside South Bend would ever deny that we won it in 1966 by all rights...but you can't claim a title you weren't awarded - unless you're auburn.

I think it's in their best interest to just drop the 1941 claim. you could at least argue for other titles but defending 1941 claim is like trying argue 1+1=3. it even makes other legit titles look bogus.

Furthermore, I'll admit it was the first article that popped up in my google search. I'm sure it gets really hazy really quickly and I've never gotten into the nitty gritty. I have read the countless threads on this subject from TD over the months and years, I should've just relied on everyone already being well versed on the subject, my bad.
My whole point is I just thought to myself if some LSU fan was claiming 5 titles or something, I'd shut his arse up and tell him we have 3.
And the idea of it making me look butt hurt because I'm saying it now is ridiculous. You're playing for your "15th" title TODAY, its relevant. But hit me with one of those trusty gifs you rely so much on to tell me whats what.
