Very likely.

don't care who we hire....there better be a stipulation that that person has to keep Aranda at DC no matter what the price is. Now if he goes to take a HC position not much we can do about that.....but the next HC has to keep Aranda.
I.m a little surprised that there's no talk at all of Aranda being a candidate for LSU HC. He's the same age as Herman, right?

How can you have a bad record at Ole Miss? Everyone wins there with their proud history and tradition of excellence.

This.
Only way he gets hired is if he has "beat Bama" on his résumé.

LSU isn't hiring someone that doesn't have HC experience. Aranda's great, but the SEC West is too tough to try and learn how to be a HC on the fly.

lets be honest, who here is looking forward to the melt when bama beats LSU and the honeymoon between coach O and the LSU fan base comes to a screeching halt?

I wouldn't judge the entire fanbase by the posters here. I talk to some daily who agree with me. He's a perfect interim head coach. Just what LSU needs to finish out the Les debacle season. He can motivate like no other.
But for the long term, he's not what we want. There's a reason he hasn't been a head coach since Ole Miss. HIs DNA makeup is a match for a line coach or coordinator, and recruiting coordinator. We don't want to lose him, but most are looking for a long term CEO of the program.

It is real simple. If he wins the West he is in. How would you not give it to a guy that could pull that off? That being said, it's not happening.

I hope so. He has great rapport with players and coaches in Louisiana, and things are clicking now. We'll have to look at the next four games, though.

Are the chances real that LSU actually hires O?

If the administrators make an emotional decision like most of the rant posters act and post, then he'll get it. I'm hoping our administration doesnt make emotional decisions like chicks on periods. But who knows.

Nothing hinges on "beating Bama". In fact, Ole Miss, Arkansas and UF are all arguably more important in that respect. He needs to win the games he SHOULD win first. And it all depends how they play, how much innovation there is on the offense and how hard they fight. So far he gets an A plus. Three games, three all-time offensive records and three non-Les-like easy blowouts. A win against Alabama would just be icing on the cake but is hardly a requirement because LSU is a two-loss team and Alabama is the greatest team in the history of organized sports in planetary history. And that A&M game looms large, because Aggies have already put it in the W column. Finishing strong would be a great endorsement for O.

Based on this site its probably 60/40 in favor but actual fan base is probably closer to 75/25 actually hoping he does enough to keep the job. I'm torn, it's definitely a risk but so is every other hire.

If the only game he loses is to Bama, he has as good a shot as anyone. Short leash. Keeps a good recruiting class together. All depends on getting a big time OC.
He's done better in the past 3 games than Les would have done.
