Is there a legit chance that LSU will actually hire Coarch Eaux?

I looked around on TD and it seems that around 70% would be in favor of Ed sticking around.

Could this really happen?

If he wins games, 100% could happen.

He would have to win out, and that may not even be enough if a big fish wants the job.

Would be so Louisiana if we did. Finally have the chance to go hire an elite HC and we give the job to our DL coach.

They need to hire Coach Oeaux. It's his turn.

How do most LSU fans feel about this?

Seems about 60/40 for keeping O judging off this site. I have no idea with the whole fanbase. Nepotism is a huge thing in Louisiana and has held the whole state back for years. I would imagine the same will happen with the football team in the coming years.

He's obviously learned a few things from past mistakes

But

IMO, he's 3rd choice right now. Though I would say, if we can't get Herman or Kelly, I'd be ok with O.

I don't care who we hire....there better be a stipulation that that person has to keep Aranda at DC no matter what the price is. Now if he goes to take a HC position not much we can do about that.....but the next HC has to keep Aranda.

Are we now saying that Herman and Kelly (I assume Chip) are can't miss elite hires?

In my eyes both of those guys are potential misses. The risk/reward with those guys is pretty high though for sure.

I don't think I realized y'all would be in favor of Kelly.

Why?

I wouldn't hire him just because he had gone 13-2 (assuming he wins out) over his last 15 games. He was terrible at Ole Miss 9 years ago! How can you have a bad record at Ole Miss? Everyone wins there with their proud history and tradition of excellence.

If he manages to win the West somehow, he will have earned the job. If not, he will be a contingency plan in case LSU misses on it's top candidates.

First, I think he has to beat Alabama. Maybe he needs to win out, but at a minimum beat Alabama.

Then you have to look at who is truly available to hire, which none of us know.

Seriously?

Think about it, if LSU won out, and won the SECCG and a bowl game, do you seriously think he should NOT get hired?

Now consider this, should LSU lose to Bama, UF, and A&M, and then lose whatever crappy bowl game they might go to, do you think LSU would hire Orgeron?

Do you really need input from the board to answer this stupid question? Do you really not realize how the next few games will determine whether or not he gets an offer?

Surprisingly I'm kind of OK with it.

The guy has learned a lot since his last stint at Ole Miss.

I love his energy. He can recruit his arse off and the players love him.

His main thing that he has learned is to not micromanage and let his coaches coach.

Of course has has to keep winning though.

Sure, if he wins out he is a lock. Not likely, so if he loses 1 or 2 he is a legit candidate. He seems to be a much better coach than when he was with Ole Miss, he has matured as a person and a coach. Kinda like Saban is so much better as a coach at Bama than he was at LSU because of his life experiences and failing in the NFL.

win out I am on board

there are so many ins and outs to a winning program. Him not being good at Ole Miss might be good. I think he has learned what didn't work. Pete Carroll was horrible before he was one of the best.
