It's not based on hopes and dreams. The difference is that Saban has a proven track record of consistently getting the job done. Every recruiting class he's had during his tenure in the SEC has won the natty. Miles has never won a natty without Saban recruited players on the roster. You can try to make the two programs sound equivalent, but they're really not at this point. The Saban brand is just too strong. LSU needs to worry about Ole Miss and A&M first IMO.

LSU may well roll on through it like butter but make no mistake, that's a real gauntlet that is rougher than what the rest of the West has.

Yeah he had an extra glass of Kool Aid this morning

I have work to do so I'm not going to spend all day on this but if you expect us to bow down to the tide just because you beat us on the last play of the game or for LSU to go away just because you think we should then you're in for a serious disappointment.

You people accuse anyone who doesn't agree with you of flaming. Is it really so unreasonable to expect LSU to struggle next year? I don't think it is. Same with the idea of LSU and Bama being on the saem level. Alabama has won 3 of 4 nattys. Only an LSU fan would argue theyre on that level. Not even close.

I see LSU and Auburn as the teams most at risk in the new order of the West. Auburn because of Saban obviously. But LSU has been tredning the wrong direction the last year or so and lost a lot more than the rest of the conference to the draft this year. Plus, they're wedged right between Freeze's Ole Miss and Sumlin's A&M, both blossoming powers, which won't help their out of state recruiting. Should be an interesting year next year IMO.

As a Tiger fan, I worry about this. If Sumlin keeps the Aggies at or near last season's level and Freeze makes the Rebels into a year in/year-out 8-10 win/season team it makes Miles's job much, much more difficult.

Up until now the Tigers really only had to worry about Saban doing any really serious poaching in the state. Other teams(Auburn, Tennessee, et al) would grab a recruit here and there but Saban was the only one to worry about coming after the best recruits year after year. If A&M remains at a high level and Ole Miss improves at the rate that Freeze's impressive recruiting suggests, they will both drain off players from Louisiana that heretofore LSU had 90-95% locked up.

Exactly. I'm not saying it's a certainty. Just that it's a reasonable possibility. Post is spot on IMO.

so is LSU going to another SECCG and bama finishing 3rd in the West....yet you completely dismiss that notion

Because it's significantly less likely. Just because both are possible doesn't mean theyre equally probable. They're not.

I hope this was a joke

actually...it's more likely that bama finishes 3rd than LSU finishing 4th or 5th....considering y'all were 90 seconds away from finishing 3rd just last season

plus...A&M couldn't beat us in College Station...i doubt they beat us in Death Valley after losing all those players on offense. and we own bama in Tuscaloosa. its common sense

Yes. You've only seen the tip of the iceberg for them and Ole Miss.

If by struggle you mean worse than 9-3 then yeah it's unreasonable. Most likely we go 10-2 again next year with a chance at 11-1 or 9-3. I know you don't follow LSU like we do but trust me we're going to be fine.

I respect your opinion, but that's best case scenario IMO. LSU is losing a lot more singificant contributors than the rest of the division. They'll have one of the worst offenses in the division again next year and with all the talent lost on defense, I just don't think they've got a lot of room for error. 5 losses is well within the realm of possibility. Hell it almost happened this year with all that first round talent on D.
