But LSU has been tredning the wrong direction the last year or so and lost a lot more than the rest of the conference to the draft this year. Plus, they're wedged right between Freeze's Ole Miss and Sumlin's A&M, both blossoming powers, which won't help their out of state recruiting.

Not really. It's kind of funny how LSU fans react that way every time someone gives an opinion that doesn't have LSU in the top 5 for the rest of all time. I honestly think there's a major realignment on the horizon. JMHO.

@ Bama fans talking about someone else's entitlement.

There's no reason at all to think LSU is declining. You're simply projecting what you want to happen. Anytime someone says they "honestly believe" something, that's your first clue that they are completely full of shite.

When was it not?

The SECW didn't get tougher when you guys came over. It was already tough as hell.

The only thing you guys did is NOT dilute it.

At least we've backed it up with three of the last four national titles

yeah, but no one is in Saban's class, that much is obvious. I don't think LSU is headed for complete irrelevance or anything. I'm just saying, it will be a dogfight with some of these up and coming programs. keep in mind LSU was a couple plays away from being a. 5 loss team this year. and it's unlikely LSU will be as good next year as they were this year, while ole miss and a&m will both be improved. I really don't think it's unreasonable to think LSU finishes behind those programs next year, and from there, who knows?

LSU loses 1 to UGA and its a rematch in the SECCG. how's that for a prediction?

which is more reasonable....mine? or LSU finishing 4th in the West?

I think both are possible. But if I were handicapping it, I definitely think 4th or 5th is more likely for LSU than your 1 loss prediction. As I said, a lot of teams in the west will be better next year. It's highly unlikely LSU will be one of those teams.

We were also a few plays from being undefeated. You were a few plays from 3 losses. See how easy that is?

We've been recruiting like gangbusters and still have a great staff. You're basing this on nothing but hopes and dreams.

like who? A&M, bama, and LSU all lose a lot. but LSU has more freshmen and sophomores with much more significant playing time.

like i said...wishful thinking. bama could just as easily end up 3rd in the West....you were 90 seconds away from that spot last season.

I think the point on LSU is they clearly weren't as strong this year as they were the year prior. The 2011 LSU team seemed to dominate everyone outside of Bama. This year you lost 3 and got really pushed by several other teams. Now you have lost an awful lot of talent to the draft.

Does LSU have a ton of talent? Sure. Have they recruited well? Absolutely. Miles is still a great coach, even if he is a weirdo that makes some stupid decisions. I just think it is valid to say that LSU may not be so invincible anymore and cracks are showing. The point of this thread is the margin for error in the SEC West is paper thin and thus a team can quickly fall. It doesn't help that you have a brutal schedule this year either, easily the toughest in the SEC. If LSU loses a couple games early the wheels could come off as all the championship hopes go out the window and the schedule remains merciless. Just look at it.

LSU starts with the TCU game which you should win but you need to show up and be ready. TCU is a very well coached team and they won't be intimidated. You also get Kent State at home which you should win as well but they were a quality team last year. Then the fun begins. After getting Auburn you play at UGA, State, Florida, and at Ole Miss in consecutive weeks and still have Bama and A&M on the schedule.

LSU may well roll on through it like butter but make no mistake, that's a real gauntlet that is rougher than what the rest of the West has.
