Gotta look at the big picture,we were down for a reason.

The SEC hasn't won any any major bowl game two years in a row. The B1G has a winning record in major bowl games the last two years.

Am I the only one that conference dominance doesn't apply to? I want every team in my conference to fail so that my team is the dominant team.

I know the argument is that "you want a strong conference to legitimize your wins within the conference". But, my team crutes against all other conference teams and regionally against non-conference teams (e.g. FSU).

I want my team to be the beacon of the conference and regionally as well. I don't know.

I still think we are the best conference top to bottom, but just barely.

Welcome to the Longwhorn mind set - and it's a flawed one.

When a conference is deemed superior every team gets the benefit of the doubt in a tie-breaker situation.

For instance, last year had the XII had the reputation of the SEC they would have likely made the 4-team playoff.

I want Missouri to go undefeated and hang the sole loss on every opponent.

The Sec is easily the best conference. No question.

There are great teams everywhere and other places play good football too.

But the sec is without question the best football conference, top to bottom.

I think the PAC is way overrated and the B1G is underrated slightly. Y'all still can't touch the SEC, mostly because fat slow cornbreath white pastyface northerners can't really compete with them Southern boys.

Yeah, the SEC is still the top conference, although not as dominant in recent years. Not trolling, nor delusional, or smack talking, but Mizzou has been a pleasant surprise for the SEC. Other than the Indiana loss, we have represented the conference quite well.

I would argue they are more dominant. Sure they have had a year or two down in football, but that has been more than offset in continuing domination across all sports.

Why do you say more dominant? Make your arguement for why you think that and we can discuss it.

IMO, the conference isn't as dominant as it was during the days of Urban AND Saban when they were in the conference.

The last two seasons the SEC hasn't won a major bowl game. O for the gipper. That isn't being dominant.

TN crushing the soul of a pathetic Iowa program right now isn't being a dominant conference. That's just beating a crappy team that should have already fired their head coach.

Alabama losing to Ohio State and similar elite level matchups is what matters.

lol isn't an arguement.

You trying to say the conference was weaker when Urban and Meyer were in the conference together considering both have won national titles?

Wasn't a conference title game between them two with teams ranked #1 and #2 in the nation and it had HUGE implications for the national title race that season? Memory is a bet fuzzy without having to look it up to refresh the memory.

You may have a point about all sports, but if you read the op, this is about football.

We have yet to see the full effect of the SECN come into play, the SEC needs to shore up around the edges a bit, but it's coming.

I don't think Mizzou can rely on the SECN alone. Mizzou has done a poor job with branding and marketing the program which is absolutely critical for a school like yours (take advantage of your recent success - A&M certainly marketed the frick out of itself when Manziel was there but Mizzou has remained perfectly forgettable despite the success because there's not been enough marketing and branding). What baffles me is that with your J-school you should be the best marketed and branded team in the conference.

Oregon is a textbook study in how an unbranded team with no particular tradition can use marketing to suddenly jump on the national scene. Sure Nike's money helped but marketing helped more.

Even in football I would say the SEC is the top. Others may have a few football schools but the SEC is solid top to bottom. Say UK has the worst football in the SEC, I would still take them to beat the bottom of all the other p5 conferences.

But I'm not arguing the SEC isn't the top conference in football. Actually, I said we were.
