Aside from Alabama carrying us all, are we still the top dogs?

Notable losses last year...

Bama loses to Ohio State, TCU pushes The rebels shite in, Tech runs down states throat, ND embarrasses LSU.

Are we losing our competitive edge? Or will teams like Tenn, LSU, Florida, and Miss Statebe back on the rise?

I see LSU getting ten wins, and the others mentioned getting 9 or more. The SEC as a whole, with all of its talent is way better than the other power conferences. One team doesn't make the conference.

Yes.

Most of our bowl contracts have is playing up a rank or two.

No conference as deep top to bottom. Arkansas finished last in the west and could have beaten almost any team in the country at the end of the year. Tennessee skullfricked Iowa.

The only real disappointment was a deflated OM matching up against a playoff snubbed buzzsaw TCU.

It isn't near as dominant as it used to be.

Its going to depend on recruiting, here's why.
Teams that have dominated have also dominated recruiting, Ohio State isn't going anywhere and neither is Florida State, its going to be best for Sec teams to avoid them, unfortunately USC is coming back and so is UCLA, couple that with the fact that Oregon is still Oregon and Washington is a pretty darn good team, I'd say the Pac 12 is a top 3 conference, the Big10 is falling, if Oklahoma fails to recruit Texas then they are going to fall beyond measure, this is a true fact throughout the past 10 years Oklahoma's roster has being filled with a little more than 47% of Texas kids, so if OU fails then Baylor and Tcu pounce, those two schools are better than 95% of the Sec schools honestly (Georgia and Bama)might be the only one's better. I honestly hope Tennessee beats OU, right now I don't see that happening, but I think as of now SEC is still the best, but we are only hanging on.

After that abysmal bowl record for most of the top dogs of the SEC we can no longer claim we are that much ahead of the other conferences. But certainly none can claim they are anything other than near the same level as us. The conference had a nice long run though so all it takes is 1 strong year of OOC scheduling wins a good bowl performance and the conference will be restored to the mountain top once again looking down on everyone else.

Collectively? Yes.

Just not head and shoulders above like it was a few years back.

So does TAMU.

Although we've acquitted ourselves well in the postseason, thankfully. Haven't put a season together yet where we were contenders wire to wire.

Part of that is because of the strength of the conference, though, which is why I say it's still tops.

I disagree with this. Harbaugh and Franklin can recruit and will get PSU/UM back to being pretty good

That would make the B1G at least competitive (still behind the SEC and Pac but in there at 3 likely)

It absolutely is the best. UGA, Bama, LSU and Auburn would win any other conference imo.

Without a doubt. Tennessee on the rise. Arkansas on the rise. Alabama maintaining elite level. Auburn, Georgia.

Ole Miss better than they've been in prolly 12 years. Miss State very strong.

Top to bottom............no doubt

I don't see the other conference flagship teams beating the door down to join the sec.Our conference is a buzz saw that the other,so called, big boys want no part of on a week in week out basis.

Heck,in conference,we play a bowl game almost every week.

Ask urban if he wants his team here...

Damn right we're the best and not for the faint hearted candy asses...

Yup. But when you beat up on each other, you'll get those bowl losses against teams that didn't get beat up in conference play. I know people from other conferences that will admit the SEC is still the top conference.
