The East hasn't won the SEC this decade.

What's the last 10 years look like head to head?

The west isn't better because of individual games... the west is better because there are at least 4-5 teams not named Alabama who could have won the East.

As a whole The SEC is down though.

Alabama is winning by 4 TD's. The only thing intriguing about this game is whether Florida will score.

Not sure how it's flawed. Like I said: West>>East.

It's just not what the hyperbole suggests.

Yes it's better. Just not waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy better.

That's an argument I can get behind. Not off just one game like the other poster was saying.

It's mostly just 6 teams riding Bama's coattails.

Nah. Bama's 18-1 record against the East since 2010 ($1 to the Gamecocks) is a big part of it...

But the rest of the SEC West is a combined 61-32 against the East since 2010. That's an astounding record when you've taken the best team in that division out of the equation. All total, 6 of the 7 SEC West programs have a winning record against the Eastern Division since 2010.

And if you need further proof its not only because of Bama, just look at the SEC Championship Game results since 2010 in games not featuring Alabama:

2010: Auburn 56, South Carolina 17
2011: LSU 42, Georgia 10
2013: Auburn 59, Missouri 42

Half of the SEC Championship Games so far this decade have featured an SEC West representative NOT named Alabama. And those teams still beat the East by an average of 29.3 points.

I hate this fact as much as anyone. I want the East to be great again like it was from 1992-2009, but ignoring the problem and acting like it doesn't exist is not going to solve the issue. The East simply does not hold a candle to the West right now. It hasn't since at least 2009.

See, I think the gap was a lot wider a few years ago.

Maybe I'm just looking at this as a Georgia fan, but I really haven't seen anything from other West teams to make me think the division is as strong as everyone says.

Ya, no doubt the last decade.

I honestly think that it's the failure of the west vs the east coming up that made it closer this year.

Still behind no doubt.

Florida, Georgia and Tennessee being down has really hurt this division.

I hope they stay down even further.

Exactly. No one is saying these things just because. I can't wait to see the East on the upswing with classic Georgia Tennessee. Florida battles that matter again.

The East has caught up with the West....except for Alabama. Alabama is just that far up on the rest of the SEC. The West and the East is hot garbage this year.

We are not talking about the last 10 years, we are talking about this year. The West, save Alabama, has dropped down to the East level of bad. You can spin it any way you want, but you would only be riding Alabama's coat tales.

As for this year, though....the West has gotten every bit as bad as the East....except for Alabama.

So you think that in a clear down year for the West having a 5-9 record(36%), is clear proof the East has caught the West?

I am not saying the East isn't getting better, but let's have the East stay competitive for more than half a season before we declare everything square. Missouri won the East twice recently, think about that.

think Bama's annihilation of USC would qualify as a better win than UK's 3 point win over UL.

UK's win was the biggest upset of the season given the 27 point spread. It effectively knocked UofL out of an Orange Bowl bid and may force the Heisman into someone else's hands.

Leave Bama, LSU, Florida, and TN out of the discussion... Even though Bama is far and away better recently than either Florida or TN.

Now compare the last 5 years of records for the remaining teams of east vs west and bowls played in.

There is ya answer. Next question

I don't care how big of an upset it was. Obviously, if he said UK beating UL was the biggest SEC non conference upset, then yea he's right.

His whole post is talking about the quality of teams. I think it has been proven over the season that USC is a better win than UL and the fact that Bama killed them also factors in when comparing to a FG victory. It is what it is.

USC is 11th. UL is 13th. That is after their recent defeat.

Not sure how that big space happened.
