Are we confusing the west with Alabama only? The rest of the west is pretty meh, just like the east.

How many of those West teams were ranked higher than Florida (current rank) at the time they faced Alabama?

IDK, probably several of them. They clearly aren't that good, though.

Yes. Several. And they didn't win their division.

Florida, currently ranked 15th, will receive their 4th loss tomorrow. And guess what - they won the East.

For the 2016 season, the SEC East had a 5-9 record against the West, with only two teams (SC and Tenn (shocking, I know)) having two losses against the West. And both of those teams lost to Alabama and Texas A&M, who are the only West teams that are 2-0 against the East this year

South Carolina lost to Mississippi State

ITT I learn that the division leaders is all that matters...

Of course the west wins by that narrative. Never mind the other 6.

I crown Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, and TAMU co-winners of the East

There is no team in the east remotely as good as Alabama.
Florida is on par with Auburn, but slightly better.
Tennessee is about on the same level as Ole Miss
Miss State is about on par with South Carolina
Arkansas, A&M, and LSU are better than Kentucky and Vandy, and about the same as (if not a little better than) UGA.
No SEC team is worse than Mizzou.

The gap is real.

Let's see.

How? Florida beat the team that drilled arky.

We beat the team that beat ATm.

Georgia beat Aubie.

How is this discussion still going on?

If you can wave your magic wand and declare parity in the conference while completely disregarding the record of your champion, then I can wave my magic wand and declare the West superior to the East.

See?

You want to throw facts out the window and say "that isn't a good argument." If you can throw facts out like that, then surely I can too

Because the discussion is the east that far behind the west.

Take away Bama and it isn't?

Behind? Yes

Night and day? No

Like I said, Alabama is the main difference.

There is no team in the East nearly as good as Alabama. There is also no other team in the West nearly as good as Alabama.

So, you take away the best team in the West, but leave the best in the East. Now, even though that still leaves the East with a losing record, you take it to mean the East isn't "that" far behind?

Solid logic.

Then take away Florida.

It's known we're behind but not as far as the hyperbole machine makes it out to be.

Not a difficult concept.

That is all my argument is.

3 win difference is pretty large in an 11 game sample.
