Louisville is much higher than Iowa or Minnesota. They've actually had some relevance recently unlike the other two.

I don't see it. Both are comparable/better brands to Louisville in football. I think the country still looks at Louisville as an upstart football program, which while putting out better products than Iowa or Minnesota lately, is still lower in profile.

And I say this as a fan of a school playing Louisville next year, FWIW.

Any bowl game but the big two are equal. Gives you extra weeks of practice and maybe a fun trip for the players. Charlotte ain't a bad place.

As a Georgia fan, this is the only silver lining other than getting a crack at Grantham. Give our QBs more practice reps going into next year, get our defense more time with Pruitt, etc.

I read a post by one my fellow Dawgs saying he wishes we would decline the bid in protest, to prove the point that we deserved a better bowl. When you shite the bed against UF and SCar and give a game away against GT, you don't deserve the spotlight. Simple as that.

I think you drastically overestimate the country's memories of ancient tradition. You are as likely to find someone that considers Minnesota a national power as you are to find someone that considers Ole Miss the same. In spite of the fact that OM has had more flashes of relevance in the past 20 years including currently(maybe this is a bad example). You can make a case for Iowa because they've been relevant in the last 10 years and played in a couple of BCS bowls. Most of the world considers Minnesota in the same breath as Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, etc because that's all we actually remember them being. They are 47 games under .500 since 1942.

We see Louisville as the best-ran athletics dept in the country that is still on the uphill swing. They were relegated in reputation by conference affiliation -- until now. They are a hot brand -- Iowa and Minnesota are old and stale.

Actually it's equal to all of those bowls.

Actually, no it's not. It's below all of those bowls in the selection process and payout.

I agree it doesn't really matter, but it most definitely is below the Gator, Citrus and Outback.

Now, get mad because you got passed over.

Things are different starting this year than they have been in the past. Used to, each bowl based on prestige (citrus, outback, peach, and on down the line) would get their pick, typically based on conference standings, then it'd go on down the line.

Now, after the CFP and access bowls, it's a little different. Citrus does have first pick and the highest payout, but if I read things correctly, after the citrus it's basically a draw out of a hat. All the bowls collaborate with the league to make selections. The belk bowl isn't necessarily "below" the gator, outback, etc.

Also, bowl payout is largely irrelevant since that money is evenly split among the league anyway.
