Not sure why I am responding with a serious answer, but IMO Mich St has it the worse. I know a few of them and all they talk about is "SCUM."

In regards to TAMU - Texas, I'd say both schools are a bit obsessed with the other. You guys have plenty of ammo against us, so I won't expand on that, except to say I am not a big fan of the War Hymn and do agree it sounds obsessive. The saw 'em off t-shirts were also bad.

Now, on to Texas. They started their hook 'em horns sign because TAMU had a gig 'em sign.

Hook 'em horns

quote:

The Texas Aggies had their "Gig 'em" thumbs-up sign, inspired while playing the TCU Horned Frogs. With a big Texas vs. TCU game coming up on Saturday, why can't Texas fans have their own hand signal?

Their "Texas Fight" was copied directly from TAMU's "Farmer's Fight" for the same reason as above. Also copied the taps rhythm. And they do, as noted in this thread, state "And it's goodbye to A&M" and no I am not saying it is the same as our War Hymn.

quote:

From a 1952 letter by Colonel Walter S. Hunnicutt on the history of Texas Fight:

"I wrote 'Texas Fight' ... in an attempt to counteract the songs and yells of the Texas Aggies, which were not too complimentary to our Student Body and some of which tended to ridicule 'The Eyes of Texas'.

"Long before I entered The University of Texas in 1909 and until about the year 1928 the Aggies had one of the most effective and awe inspiring songs used by any student body any where any time. 'Farmers Fight' at that time was their sacred College song. ... It was to them what 'The Eyes of Texas' had always been to us. The song was a repetition of the words 'Farmers Fight' sung to the well known bugle call 'Taps' in the same slow tempo as the bugle call is used by the army for lights out at night.

"Returning to Marlin, TX after World War One I resumed my practice of attending most of the Texas foot-ball games, especially those with A. & M. It occurred to me that an effective way to strike back at the Aggies was to write a 'Texas Fight' song in answer to their 'Farmers Fight' using the same bugle call 'Taps' changed to lively march time and having 'Texas' throughout the song instead of 'Farmers'. 'Texas Fight' (Texas Taps) is the result."

Hex Rally. Same theme...

Hex Rally History

quote:

The Texas vs. Texas A&M football game was longstanding rivalry, and as the Aggies then had their own bonfire and rally, members of the Board hoped to create something unique for the University and use the red candles to re-instate the tradition. The first Texas Hex Rally was scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, 1986, two days before the game on Thanksgiving. Madam Hipple, still living in Austin, was invited to attend, but declined because of her age.

In summary, they have spent most of their history saying "but, but TAMU has that. Let's do something similar."

It's clear that A&M landed one of the best College players ever that lead what is a mediocre team to some success for a couple of years. Without Johnny Clipboard, they are middle of the pack if not underwhelming. So yes, they are little brother to them all.

I don't know if the question about being a little brother program is the right question to be asking about Texas A&M. They have more of a problem with co-dependency. ATM has a burning desire to be associated with another school. Typically, this has taken the form of a rivalry with University of Texas but ATM tried too hard to force a lopsided relationship.

Now, they seem focused on creating a rivalry where there is none. LSU is the most obvious choice but LSU has proven to be the superior program and I don't know any LSU fans who really get excited about the ATM game, let alone consider them a rival. ATM also tried to make Alabama a rival but that's laughable.

ATM's newest move had been to try to buddy up with LSU earlier this year because both programs appeared to be down. However, time showed that LSU is on the upswing and ATM is a legit dumpster fire. This angered ATM fans who have been rebuked yet again. It's sad really. ATM doesn't fit in the SEC and should be removed.

Are all Aggies this delusional? A perennial football powers fans talking shite to the historically, under-achieving, programs fans. who have done nothing but try and force a rivalry=/= defining their season. Are you guys in college station truly this unaware or are you intentionally obtuse?

LSU has only been a good football team for a decade. Until you fell arse backwards in to Saban your school has less prestige than Ole Miss.
