It is without a doubt a logical (and fair) way of evaluating both programs going forward -- and that's essentially all I've done

Were there a larger sample size of direct competition, I'd say sure, but cherry picking a single home game for Ole Miss as the basis for your argument is fragile standing ground at best. You've still failed to address the relative similarity in your recruiting classes, or the fact that UT had the highest *single* class rating during this time span.

Indeed, facts can be stubborn things though, so don't let them get in the way of your narrative.

ETA: I don't even know why I'm arguing on your behalf here Vols.. I suppose it's kind of like the idiot brother scenario... you can call them an idiot, but no one else can.

Over the period that Freeze and Jones have recruited against each other, OM averages a slightly better ranking than Tennessee based on the numbers previously posted in this thread. Freeze dominated the only head-to-head match up and has had quite a few more quality wins. What else is there to say?

I notice when you averaged out recruiting rankings, you went back 5 years and butch jones wasn't your coach. Go back four and I think we have you beat. Sorry, bro. Like he effort tho. And another thing, we are producing wins. Enjoy being the East favorite and blowing games in the 4th.

Yeah, but he had to go back 5 years to make his bullshite seem less obvious.

Out of curiosity, why did you guys only play a 1 off game against Ole Miss in 2014? Conference re-alignment have something to do with it? Was just looking at this and didn't recall anything specific that would have accounted for it otherwise.

They played at UT in 2010, may have something to do with it?

Over the past 4 years between the 2 teams, it's separated by 1 rank

If you look at CBj's 3 classes and CHF 4 classes, it's worse for you (247 composite):

2016

OM 6
UT 14

2015

OM 17
UT 4

2014

OM 15
UT 7

2013

OM 8

Avg

OM 9.2 (best 6; worst 17)
UT: 8.3 (best: 4th; worst: 14)

I've spun the numbers every which way you've asked. It Is yet to help prove a point any OM poster has made.

I'm on the first page, so not sure if this thread is still even on the OP's point anymore...

And while I understand this a message board where we like to play around with conspiracy because it's more entertaining than logic, but all these kids that OM doesn't close on... So they are turning down $80,000-$200,000 to be Bulldawgs, Gumps, and Utah uh, whatever they are? OM has gotten killed on NSD the past two seasons and the programs that slid kids from underneath us out of no where are the schools accusing us of cheating. So these kids are turning down that type of money to play for your school for free? Ok

This allows Freeze to discount his year 1 recruiting class. Year 1 for most coaches tends to be their worse class (see every article about Kirby from this NSD). The only viable way to account for this since we're using averages is to do one of the following:
a) average across 4 seasons for Jones and 5 for Freeze - averages should help to balance the differential in total recruiting seasons
or
b) ignore year 1 under Jones as well, again averaging Freeze's last 4 years with Jones' last 3

In either scenario, Ole Miss has not out recruited Tennessee. Simply because I don't feel like doing both sets of math, here are the results under scenario B which is more favorable for Ole Miss (this forum needs a table function in the worst way... formatting sucks pasting):

Tennessee
2014-2016
Avg. Class Rank 8.33
Avg. Total Rating 270.81
Avg. Rating/player 89.51

Ole Miss
2013-2016
Avg. Class Rank 11.5
Avg. Total Rating 260.53
Avg. Rating/player 87.68

Apparently, Math is hard for DJ... My last post should suffice to explain how this here recruiting thing works.

I thought as one of the more "educated and informed posters" that he would appreciate a logical breakdown with concrete numerical evidence?

ETA: thanks for the new sig quote... tacos are overplayed right now.

Based on the 247 rankings that VFL1800FPD posted on page one, In the last four years Ole Miss had an 11.5 average while Tennessee's was 12.25. I didn't look anything up and just went by what was in this thread. Cool sig quote though. I can see you just head bobbing as you frantically type all of these responses. I'm sure you're elated at the moment

You've said this about many people after they just finished kicking your arse.

Am I supposed to start interpreting this as you waving your hand and saying "No Mas"?

I think you missed the point, which is not surprising. If you go strictly 4 year comparison, yes that is accurate. The issue with that is you have a statistical bias in that you eliminate CHF year 1 class (which is not just his worst class, but nearly every coach's worst class) but include CBJ's year 1 class - thankfully the world of math offers us a convenient way to discount year one for both and still account for variances in total sample size with something called "averages". If you eliminate both coaches' year one class, you get the numbers I provided... Class dismissed?

Continuing on the trend of no surprises.

I could give 2 shits. Light day working from home and sick to boot, so spending the day in quarantine from the little one and the Mrs leaves you with a lot of spare time. I was genuinely curious when you made the claim that Ole Miss was superior in recruiting. Then you proceeded to make an arse of yourself so I ensured that there was sufficient information to "expose" you, as you felt confident that you'd never been exposed.

In the future, just enjoy it man. It's not that serious. No one on this board is a fricking rock star athlete, billionaire, or anything important. 2/3 of it is idiots and the other 1/3 enjoy laughing at them. Try to be in the 1/3 next time.

I've said it only to you. You both seem to take this awfully serious. I really do think the delusion of "winning" a message board argument makes your day - maybe your whole week. I know you're both legitimately excited over this. Possibly to the extent of taking numerous screen shots to look back on with fondness. After all, this website is the best thing in your life

Says the person who can't just admit that they were wrong initially and move on. Clinging on to the last desperate thread of hope that you didn't fall into the age old trap, best summarized by a quote oft incorrectly attributed to one Samuel Clemens:
“It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.”

How old are you? If you saw my previous post, this site ranks somewhere around 873627283 on things in my life, probably lower during the offseason.
