Uh, LSU needed a fluke punt return this year. In Death Valley
good point
judging by how we beat auburn by 2 points auburn should be a powerhouse team next year
and that tennessee team that almost beat NC Alabama must have been great the next year

Why do these always have to turn into a pissing match?
I think Ole Miss has potential to be very good next year. "Potential" can be a bitch though when the cards don't fall exactly how you want them to. State fans have been learning that the hard way the past two years.
I think the real overwhelming potential is in the 2014 season, if it wasn't for the fact that every currently contributing OL will be gone other than Morris - who I believe could potentially be an early NFL talent. That's the only thing that leaves a big questionmark for me in saying "2014 is their year." However, Freeze's offense relies on such quick reads that it neutralizes a bunch of problems on the OL -- as we saw this year.
Also, it's always seemed like Wommack had a good year or two everywhere he went -- but then teams figured him out and torched him right out of town. He'll surely have better defensive talent in Oxford though, and if he gets the talent on the DL it looks like he may, the scheme probably becomes prettymuch idiot proof.
One thing for certain is that both State and OM are on the rise on the recruiting front...If we stay consistent in development, we could easily see Egg Bowls meaning a whole lot more in the future.

We will be decent at worse for the next couple. After that, I don't know, but things are looking pretty good. My bet for State is that Mullins won't be there in two years for one reason or another...

Damn these treads suck about the 3rd page on.

Why?
He has his 2 best recruiting classes rankings-wise last year and this year- why would he leave when its getting better for him? Not to mention his nearly 3MM salary that will be hard for him to match

Your fanbase will go all Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs on him soon.

Mostly with you on that. I just don't see him doing well enough to leave for any other location that will be an upgrade at this point. Plus, the way he's built the program almost implies that he's there for the long haul. If he was just looking for a get out of town quick card, he certainly should have jerked the redshirts off the Brown boys and a couple of the talented DL we have when it became apparent how slow our team speed was defensively.
I think we'll be better against the spread next year mainly because I think Richie/Beniquez/McKinney/Wells are going to be a huge upgrade in coverage and sideline to sideline speed for us.
Thing is, I've watched Mark Hudspeth pretty close -- and while I won't be in favor of firing Dan to get him, I'd be just fine with Dan leaving and Hud stepping in. He just gave ULL another 9 win season. He's won 18 there in two years - including two bowl games. ULL hadn't won a bowl since they were a JUCO in the 40s before he got there.

Just a hunch. I guess we should just wait and see...

Will be hard for him to take a million plus paycut to leave State...and we wont fire him- he's getting another extension and the buyout would be way too big
Mullen either gets a huge job or he's locked in for another 3-4 years

Honestly, I'm fine with him staying there. I just don't think he will . For one reason or another...

Wommack made his bones this season with defense adjustments and game plans, not his scheme. Bottom line is we have two coaches that would ever leave and they are McGriff and Kiffin. Kiffin is a star and IF Wommack shits the bed, we have our DC in waiting. Kiffin is Wommacks go to guy, I just hope we can hold onto him. If teams start going after him I fully expect us to make him the DC in waiting for a couple years and promote him and let Wommack retire.

In 2009, LSU was ranked #8 going into the game against Ole Miss. Finished out being 2nd in the West behind Alabama. Arkansas really wasn't that bad of a team either. A bad call or two kept them from being a 9+ win team.

Any school with a football program that is not LSU, Bama or UF is irrelvent.

Ole Miss will be better than they were in 2012, so they're gonna be pretty good. They're still gonna be the underdog in several games, just like we will.

OM will be a tough out. I just have a feeling if someone has a "big" game the week after playing the Rebels they are setting themselves up for a classic trap game.
