The talking heads are like a 20 year old kid making game day picks for the first time.

They actually think they can will their team to victory.

The grind you will hear on the 8th of January will the gnashing of tooth from countless Indiana trailer parks.

ND's defense is legit.

They give up some yards, for example, 4.55 Yards per play allowed, but they just don't let you score TD's very often, which is why they are undefeated.

They will cause problems for Alabama in the red zone, but I doubt they will give them too much trouble between the 20's.

Hell no. Only Bama and ND fans will be watching the game after the first quarter; Bama will win by 3 TD's minimum.

LSU's D and UGA's D and Bama's D are probably the 3 best in the country this season.

Bama being 3rd to the other 2.

LSU's D really struggled the last 3-4 games. Our Secondary gave up alot of big plays but they are young and hopefully will improve! We are not top 3 tho

Florida had the best defense in the SEC and in the country this year IMO.

And don't just dismiss ND's defense. They are on par with the big boy defenses of the SEC this year. They didn't go undefeated because of their offense for sure. Their front 7 is really strong.

Although everyone likes to hate on Teo because of his undeserved Heisman candidacy, he's still an excellent player and leader of that defense.

And to answer the original question, if you are factoring in the last 3 games when LSU's D decided to start playing like shite, then yes ND has a better D than LSU. Up to that point it's a toss up IMO.

I dunno. ND's defensive numbers are pretty good. And they have a 4* or 5* player at every position except CB which is a 3*. I don't they are as deep and their secondary seems vulnerable. Its their offense that sucks. That's why they were tested by BYU, Pitt, Michigan and Purdue.

In your opinion maybe, but Bama was #1 again by the numbers. We were #1 in rushing defense and #5 in pass defense. Florida was #5 overall, #8 rush and #12 pass. UF numbers were good but not #1.

Defense Stats

And don't give me "our schedule was tougher crap". When you throw in the SECCG we had the 3rd toughest and Florida had the 6th toughest.

What I can't WAIT for is Mr Teo stepping in to fill a hole on a short yardage play and our 320 pound Australian fullback pancakes him.

ND's front seven is really good and very big. I don't believe they have the speed that LSU does though. We hear this every year. The best defense outside the SEC is better than the defenses in the SEC and every year, people are surprised at how dominant and fast the SEC defenses are. Is ND's defense good? yes. Are they better than LSU's? maybe, maybe not. Bama can tell us after the game.

Also, LSU is deeper, and you need two defensive lines to hang with Bama for 4 quarters. I don't think ND has that, meaning Bama will break them at some point in the second half.

I have no idea what the numbers are honestly, I'm going on what I saw.

Bama's D struggled badly against A&M and made Mettenberger look all-SEC, and those were the only 2 teams worth a shite yal played all year until the SECCG.

I don't think UF even gave up a 1st down in the second half against A&M, they completely destroyed LSU's offense, forced a bunch of turnovers against FSU and made Murray look like a child despite losing that game with their shitty offense.

I have been waiting for this one to come up. Despite Bama fans thinking I am butthurt and such I actually am pulling for them. I cant stand ND - never have and never will.
I was wanting to ask the Bama experts if they think they will hammer ND's DL over and over with the power running game as a primary game plan. I think ND has good talent up front to get where they are but I dont think that they are very deep and I expect them to wear out by third qtr if Bama puts a bunch of long drives on them early. I think it would be a big mistake to throw too much early on and potentially letting them get their D off the field.

Look at the prime games. Bama and UF both played LSU, aTm, and UGA. I will bet Bama gave up over 500 ypg and 30+ pts. UF held all three to modest days. I got no dog in this hunt - just lookin at the reality of it.

While obviously he's a turd for rattling incorrect stats off the top of his head, I would be willing to bet UF had much better stats across the board defensively than Bama against these 3 common opponents.

Perhaps, but the circumstances of our games compared to UF's were different. We played an inspired LSU team at night, in Death Valley. We played A&M when they were clicking on all cylinders, compared to UF who played them the 3rd game of the season. The SECCG was such a big game that UGA was totally up for. Not using these as excuses, and I really see nothing wrong with saying that UF had a better D than us this year, but to use those three games as proof is kind of silly.
