To be fair, its one thing to land a 5* recruit, it's another thing to produce championships with that recruit. How many times do we see a Clemson, or a Texas churn out top notch recruiting classes and have nothing to show for it on the field?

Who is Will Lowery?
Saban got to Bama in 2007. Javier graduated in 2009. He played 3 years under Saban.
Will Lowery was a Walk-On turned starter at defensive back before he got injured last year.

His player development and program management are his best strengths. The only recruits that he has had at Bama that were sure fire NFL players regardless were Julio, Trent, Cyrus, Landon Collins, maybe Fluker.
Players like Kareem,Arenas,Hightower,Ingram, Dareus, Upshaw etc were all developed. His defensive scheme is the best in college football.
His game day coaching leaves a lot to be desired. His game plans are always great, but when they fail for whatever reason he fails to adjust out of stubborness.
Last year vs UT was the first time I've seen him completely abandon his original game plan.

I think its a bit early to say Landon Collins is a sure thing in the nfl.

He's the best recruiting head coach and he develops talent as good as anyone. Maybe he's not the brightest mind offensively but he's probably the best defensive mind in college football.

I don't necessarily think he's great at evaluating talent. I just think he outworks everybody else. For lack of a better, non-overused word the "process" they have for evaluating and recruiting guys is second to none.
As far as schemes go they are on the cutting edge year in and year out. And again, I don't think he's a genius when it comes to X's and O's they just do a great job of meeting with people outside the program to make themselves better.

For example, I know they met with New England, the Saints, and the ex-Colts guys over the off-season. Then they went out and recruited maybe the two best TE prospects in the nation and have one in the hopper for next year.

If he coached at USC they might not ever lose game. The talent he would get, it would be like an NFL team.
BTW I hate having to play Bama very year and like last year twice, but if you want to be the best you got to beat the best.

I saw how he adjusted the defensive gameplan against my beloved HOgs in 2010. He completely outcoached Petrino in the second half.

Yes I have but Bama still doesn't have a QB nor WR's like USC has.

And USC isn't turning out the LB and DB that Bama is.
Talent is talent and after this years draft, Bama has a good chance to break the 4 year record for first round draft picks.

Man are you dense? Of coarse they haven't but when Pete Carroll was there they were. Cal is full of NFL talent on both sides the ball. Saban would get better recruits at USC than he ever will at Bama. USC is LB U! That's no diss at Bama because they have been killing it in recruiting.
Imagine Bamas team with USC's QB and WRs. They would be unbeatable.

Saban has also been given an open checkbook at Bama to hire as many people as he thinks he needs to do a WHOLE lot of behind the scenes work that makes him appear to be an otherworldly recruiter/talent evaluator. IF you have 50-100 well-trained guys working nonstop for you. you are always going to look a whole lot better than others trying to do the same amount of work with 25 or so guys.
