There are different types of rivals and rivalries. Most are sports rivalries only. This is where I think most fans cannot possibly understand the Aggie/Longhorn rivalry (yes, we are rivals and frick the fricking frick out of those fricking frickers).

Most rivals talk trash at the games and hold bragging rights, but generally, after the yearly contest, they go on about their business until next year. Sure, that one game is circled on the calendar every year and it means more than any other game, but it is a game nonetheless.

Aggie/Longhorn? We don't even need to meet those frickers on the field to fuel the hate. We compete for everything in the State of Texas. It's not a sports rivalry. I know of no similar relationship between two institutions. It is on par with Sunni and Shiite, India and Pakistan, Tutsi and Hutu. It's to the point where we can't play each other.

So, if were talking "current sports rivals," A&M doesn't really have any. Historically:

1. The fricking longhorns
2. Baylor (and those frickers almost fit in the Tutsi v. Hutu category given their historic state influence).
3. Texas Tech

We don't play any of these miserable shits anymore. Thus, "historic."

And for good measure, frickLSU®

90s-00s were rough for Bama. UT band-wagoners came out of very corner, some living here not even from here. But ya know you love me in a platonic/nonsexual way despite it all.

My, best friend who I have know for 20 years is a huge Tennessee fan. He lives in West Virginia now, but has a huge ugly arse Tennessee themed man cave in his house. He does have a ton of cool shite in there though. He has "Bama Slamma 96'" framed, a painting of the 1986 Sugar Bowl vs Miami, an old Sports Illustrated from the 60s featuring TSIO on the cover, and just tons of autographed photos and other knick knacks. It's been increasingly more difficult to smack talk him the past 8 or so years because he has been so negative in regards to Tennessee football, very subdued. The Dooley era has ruined him. He is totally Randy Quaid in Major League 2.

Thats how I feel about UT/OU, especially since they never play at each others' campuses. Both fan bases claim to hate each other but I rarely see a horn and a sooner cross paths with the exception of at the state fair and some crossover in the dfw area. I get that they are rivals on a sports level and that their game more often than not has determined a big 12 title, but they don't actually deal with each other that much on a day to day basis.

I know it's not worth wasting the time. Neither of us is going to budge on our opinion so there's really no point in doing this every few weeks. I know I'm right though so I'm not worried about what you think.

I have no idea why you're so confident about beating us this fall.

Johnny Manziel ain't walking through that door again, boss. Y'all will definitely be improved, but it's not like we're going to take a step back.

Vanderbilt: Tennessee,

Probably the most intense doormat in-state rivalry, although you can make a case for New Mexico and Idaho. Hard to believe a 3-9 team runs the state of Tennessee.

School: Primary, Secondary
Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee
Arkansas: LSU, currently maybe Auburn (bc of Gus)
Auburn: Alabama, Georgia
Florida: Georgia, Florida State
Georgia: Florida, Auburn
Kentucky: Louisville, Tennessee
LSU: Alabama, Ole Miss / A&M tie
Mississippi State: Ole Miss, Alabama
Missouri: Kansas, Nebraska
Ole Miss: Mississippi State, LSU
South Carolina: Clemson, Georgia
Tennessee: Alabama, Vanderbilt
Texas A&M: Texas, LSU
Vanderbilt: Tennessee

When I say Alabama is LSU's biggest rival right now, I mean that in a sense that they're currently the most hated by LSU fans. If LSU could win 1 game most LSU fans would pick this one. It's driven by envy and is a little pathetic, but it is what it is. I don't share that sentiment and I recognize that it is far from reciprocated by Alabama fans.

Sorry, but you've met one now in the Jackson doubleheader days, dad used to take me for both. Still have a cowbell in my closet. Not to downgrade our rilvalry, but I don't root for state to lose but once each year

Vanderbilt barely qualifies as a rival. We've pushed their shite in so many times over the past several decades that you know it's been a shite season if they manage to put one over on you. James Franklin's two in a row over Dooley and a depleted 2014 roster is the first time they won two in a row against Tennessee since 1925-26. I'd bet a hundred bucks no one on the rant was alive when that happened.

Now they think they're rivals with us. We just know that we completely and utterly suck if we lose to them.

We own Texas A&M. Doesn't mean we don't still hate them and they aren't our sorta-rivals.

This is strangely accurate. There is a semi- rivalry feel to A&M-Arkansas, but we have so much in common that I find it hard to route against you when playing other teams.

Still, it is more of a rivalry than we have with Mizzou, who I could really not care less about. I wish they would stop trying to force that rivalry. It could happen eventually but it will take 20+ years (in football, at least)

I seriously wish you guys had never joined the SEC, but that doesn't mean we aren't sorta-rivals. I liked A&M until they joined the SEC because I had never met any of their fans. I knew Longhorn fans and they almost disowned me when I told them A&M was a lot more likable from an outsiders perspective in 2010.

I agree with this...

For SC:

1. Clemson - our TRUE rival, divides every aspect of this state (government, religion, education, social life etc)

2. Georgia - our main conference rival... Really became intense since the arrival of Spurrier.. Wasn't a competitive series prior. Lots of SC students nowadays are from Georgia/Metro Atlanta so this rivalry IMO will only grow with intensity in the future.

3. UNC - we kinda have that same thing with UNC that Arkansas has with Texas.. we currently don't play often, but when we do it's pretty heated, especially since we live amongst eachother. Lots of SC fans in NC and vice versa. We need to play UNC in all sports at least 2 out of every 5 years.

Kinda random... but when I was at USC (2008-2012), lots of students REALLY hated Arkansas. It never felt like a rivalry but we always hated playing them.... I guess because they used to beat up on us pretty good. Arkansas embarrassed some of our better teams during the Petrino years and as a fan.. you knew before the game even started that Carolina was going to play terribly. They gave us the "Homecoming Heartache" game a few years ago where they beat us 41-20 on one of the coldest and blustery noon games I've ever been to. That entire day was pure misery. Eventually we repaid them by drubbing them 52-7 (score should've been worse) during their homecoming in 2013. We hated playing Arkansas.
