LSU obviously doesn't fit. The list in the OP:

"LSU: ??? (Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida, A&M, and Arkansas can all stake claims, IMO)"

Is good as far as it goes but leaves out Auburn and Auburn was LSU's #1 in the 90s most likely (those were some great games from the mid 90s till when Tubbs left).

If you judge a rival by who you most want to beat LSU's rivals are Alabama and Florida.

If you judge a rival by who you most hate losing to LSU's rivals are Alabama, Arkansas, and (theoretically) A&M

In-state rivalries are always more personal and intense with the exception of tOSU vs UM

Feel the same way. We did what was best for the conference given the circumstances back in 1992, to try and help out Arkansas and South Carolina. We were ripped from playing FL and TN as a result.

I grew up in LSU country and your omission of Ole Miss is laughable.

You're probably right for the older fans

The funny thing for me is I find myself liking them as a fan-base for the most part. I can't hate them like I probably should for the sake of history.

I love y'all's fanbase. I live in New Orleans, for the record.

Anyways, I've always seen our rivalry as sort of an SEC West "cocktail party:" two hard-partying, relatively similar fanbases.

Yeah, so there's no venom for me and Ole Miss doesn't fit on the "most want to beat" or "least want to lose to" list. There are teams that matter more for your larger season goals and there are teams whose fanbases are more obnoxious if you are a LSU fan.

UK's rivalries are, of course, determined by basketball while the rest of the SEC uses football. Our main rival is Louisville and the secondary is North Carolina.

In football we have no real rivals other than maybe Louisville because we aren't consistent enough to maintain one, especially in the SEC. Whenever UK beats somebody in the conference they get really pissed off that the Cats beat them so I'd say the SEC is our secondary rival.

Auburn and Bama fans love to trivialize each other by claiming other teams are more important to them. The reality is that no one game can rescue a season or destroy a season in the way that the Iron Bowl can. And deep down, Bama and AU fans know it. Admitting it makes their rival more important and that is why they won't acknowledge it. Bama and AU would miss each other 10x worse than Texas misses aTm. It's hatred for one another that has made both teams so successful the last several years.

so...

arkansas' rivals:
1. Texas
2. LSU

Texas' rivals:
1. Oklahoma
2. A&M
3. Baylor
4. Arkansas

Seems like you hate texas more than they hate you arkansas. You must feel mad that your number one rivalry doesn't really consider you as a threat.

Really it depends on the fan; half the fanbase hates MSU more while the other half hates LSU more a lot of it depends on family.

From Sherrill til now it's MSU for the vast,VAST majority. Whether they want to admit it or not. The fact that so many deny it is sort of embarrassing for OLE MISS. Like delusions of grandeur type of thing that is obvious to every other fan base. They say it, but absolutely no one believes it. And I mean ABSOLUTELY NO ONE believes it.

Obviously that isn't an absolute, but I think it's pretty accurate in general. It also depends a lot on age.

That's pretty much spot on, where as depending on what rival your geographically closer to is the biggest rival, the only real difference is those in North and East GA consider UT and USC slightly bigger, those in Metro, West and South GA consider UT and USC important , but secondary to the Big 3.

Not really. You would have to be a strange individual to actually be mad at something like your scenario.
