I'd say yes with the constant decline of LSU football

Team A (Since 2010)
35-5
1 SEC Championship
2 National Championship Game Appearances
2 National Championships

Team B (Since 2010)
34-6
1 SEC Championship
1 National Championship Game Appearance
N/A National Championships

If someone asked you to choose between Team A and Team B, I'm quite sure you'd pick Team A. But if I asked you why, wouldn't the answer be "I choose Team A because they've played for and won more national championships than Team B." I can't imagine that any reasonable person would look at Team A and Team B and say "I choose Team A because Team B is clearly in decline."

Not trying to flame but I think most would agree that Florida was in decline under Ron Zook; Florida State was in decline at the end of the Bowden years; and Tennessee was in decline at the end of the Fulmer era. These teams were putting up respectable records by NCCA standards but not by the standards of their schools and it was clear that none of them were championship contenders any longer. LSU is in contention for SEC and National Championships late in the season every year. They haven't closed out seasons like BAMA, but who has?

I don't like to tell a fella how to dig the hole I just give him the shovel and let him surprise me with his ingenuity.

The problem is that after this year I fear LSU will have to dig upwards.

For some negatigers he's always on the jot seat.

But that can be said for any College coach.

Win. Leave or get fired.

Some times a program just needs change to regain enthusiasm.

I think Miles has done enough that if LSU were to can him, he'd get another gig.

When LSU wins 6-7 games with all of this talent, will Miles be on the hotseat?

Anything less than 8 wins will put him on the hot seat. If he loses to Florida, Bama, TAMU (w/JFF), and Georgia, but beats everybody else in good form, then he's fine. If he gets beat by Ole Miss, then he's toast.

Of course, if for some reason TCU upsets them in the first game, he may not be able to recover without an SECCG appearance.

Edit: Couldn't remember LSU's schedule

True about the need to regain enthusiasm. Things have been pretty bad for awhile now. Getting tired of the mediocrity.

I doubt that Miles coaches again after this. Kind of like Fulmer and Houston Nutt - who would want him with him flaming out the way he is?

Time to start over, I guess.

It could take a while.

Has Burton Burns said anything noteworthy? He might help us save some of the recruiting class, at least.

He just signed a 7 year extension. Hell no. And you're welcome.

I am loving some of the responses from LSU fans, though.

Why in the world would Miles be on the hit seat after a 10 to 11 win season.

I don't understand this decline you speak of. Lsu is young because of all the nfl talent they produce, but I think the young guys will step up enough to beat a&m, hang in there and win with Florida, and play Georgia and Bama tougher then anybody else will all year.

Everybody says Les Miles will be on the hot seat after this and that year....but he never is.

LSU would be smart to keep him around. Even if he doesn't win another national championship, he has certainly sustained success and should he leave, he'll have laid a foundation for future success. Fast defense and grinding offense.

True. But, I am tired of focusing on the past. Look at Auburn. A championship in 2010 and now they have fallen off the map.

I fear the same for my beloved Tigers.

Just trying to plan for the future.
