I'm not saying Smart isn't great, because he is. I'm saying your program as a whole isn't great historically.
I know you're just an alter looking for easy bites, but this was too good to pass up. Georgia has..
-More legit natties
-More SEC titles
-More all time wins
-More bowl games
-More bowl wins
-More weeks ranked in the AP
-More weeks ranked at #1
-A higher win percentage
-More head to head wins
...than Tennessee. So if our program isn't great, I'd be curious to see how you'd describe tennessee lol

What’s the asterisk for a 15-0 season?
Didn't beat any power 5 conference champions.
I don't make the rules, I just enforce them. Asterisk.

Also not great?
This doesn't have to be hard.

It's best not to take anything he says as being actually serious

Fortunately for the rest of us, the asterisk only exists in your own mind and the “rules” don’t apply in reality.

Its not an arbitrary reason, its the only time a "national champion" has not beaten at least one other p5 conference champion. Its literally the definition of an asterisk-worthy season. You're good enough to be the 'national' champion, but didn't beat the best team in a single other power 5 conference? Thats worse than a COVID championship

As has been discussed numerous times on here, both of Kirbys titles have asterisks
Doesn't matter what has been discussed on a message board, there are no asterisks next to either one of our title from the last two years.

Yes there are

2022*

Again, this a useless message board. Show me where the NCAA or CFP or anywhere else where there is an asterisk. I'll wait

Even though I'm an original Dooley Dawg, I would say without a doubt Smart is.

Hey we did beat the #1 team in the nation last year lmaoooo
You gonna add any more asterisks for backup punters being out or the sun shining in the other team's eyes or the qb having an ingrown toenail etc???

In 25 seasons, Dooley won a national championship and had six seasons ranked in the top five.
In his eighth season, Smart has won two national championships and has had four seasons ranked in the top five.
Smart's success rate is much higher.

Neyland > Kirby right now and its not particularly close
Yes, everyone is so impressed by all those "legitimate" national titles from an era where only white players took the field.
Lmao, a back to back title run today is like having 5 national titles back then. Neyland's run is closing in on being 100 years old

This is somewhat unpopular but when Richt left in 2015 I was of the opinion that he was our best ever. People will jsut point to dooley by default but I don't know if I'd agree. That's another topic entirely though.
Wally Butts was better than Richt.

At first I say no but then I look at Dooley's record pre and post Walker and in todays game Dooley probably doesn't last very long. Dooley is a legend for his longevity, being a "good" coach but not for championships which in todays environment is how you are measured.
The days of coaches being able to just go to bowls, have nice seasons and not win titles a la Bo Schembechler, Hayden Fry, Terry Donahue are gone.
