Is Kevin O'Sullivan more of an elite baseball coach than Paul Mainieri?

Probably. LSU has more baseball talent than anyone in the country and we have struggled in the postseason since our win in '09.

More elite no, Paul has a National Title on him. O'Sullivan is a hell of a coach though.

I would say they are the 2 best in the league with Paul ahead for winning the 2009 Title.

No, Mainieri has won a NC. Sully has not.

No the parity gap in college baseball is as close as its ever been with how many teams field amazing talent. Especially in the SEC

Seems like every year Florida is a top ranked team but they never win shite. Paul has a ring.

Dumb thread

I would say they are equal. I would put Corbin right there with them.

And this is how I know you don't know anything about college baseball outside of LSU.

I just wanted to be the third person to tell you how misinformed this statement is. Even more so when talking about an LSU to UF comparison.

Our fans in a nutshell. Ignorant to the talent other teams possess. Look up recruiting rankings, current mock drafts, recent drafts, etc and tell me what led you to the conclusion that LSU has more talent than anyone in the country. Florida has been loaded with talent for yrs and haven't managed to break through yet. Winning a national championship is hard given how competitive and balanced college baseball has become.

This is completely false, teams like Vandy have passed up LSU in terms of talent and it's been that way for a while. When you can offer way more than 11.7 scholarships, it helps getting multiple future 1st rounders on campus. UF under Sullivan has also had extremely good luck in getting top notch MLB talent on campus.

If there's 1 fault of Mainieri, it's him having a tougher time keeping those top prospects he has committed than Vandy/UF...and it's not really a fault IMO, Vandy just has more money to offer and Sullivan has gotten REALLY lucky by comparison.

the fact teams like Vandy and UF can stockpile multiple 1st round talents on the team at the same times should show you we CLEARLY are behind when it comes to top talent. We typically have a headliner each season (Bregman, Nola, Gausman, Mahtook, Ranaudo, Mitchell)...but they are getting MULTIPLE headliners each season now.

Florida has an entire team of 6'5" or taller pitchers that throw 95 with a wipe out slider/change. It's unbelievable the talent they have on that team.

Florida is loaded yes...but lets not act like LSU is winning with a bunch of scrappy no name players.

You guys have to be top 10 talent wise. Probably top 5.

Lol at the dude who said LSU has more talent.

Florida has like 5 first round picks on their pitching staff alone lmao.

Vandy has had more talent than LSU the last few years as well

How many rings does Sully have? Has Florida earned 5 straight national seeds? There you go Won't matter anyway because he will be out the SEC here shortly. Hook'em horns!

And yet we have beat them 3 out of 5 within a week and a half. One of the loses was in a 7 inning game and the other was 0-1.
