Typically a D.C. is as good as his players that are playing for him.

2014 ratings (last year of Mark Snyder)

Rush Defense - 109 (216.0 ypg)
Pass Defense - 80 (234.8 ypg)
Scoring Defense - 75 (28.1 ppg)
Total Defense - 102 (450.8 ypg)

2015 ratings

Rush Defense - 107 (213.7 ypg) improvement
Pass Defense - 4 (166.3 ypg) improvement
Scoring Defense - 28 (22.0 ppg) improvement
Total Defense - 51 (380.0 ypg) improvement

2016 ratings

Rush Defense - 80 (191.8 ypg) improvement
Pass Defense - 91 (250.0 ypg) decline
Scoring Defense 40 (24.5 ppg) decline, but improvement from Snyder
Total Defense - 90 (441.8 ypg) decline, but improvement from Snyder

To not compare John Chavis' impact against the PUTRID numbers from Mark Snyder is making a dishonest assessment.

This is all lovely but why is LSU so much better in year 1 with Aranda than 1 year with Steele? Chavis is closer to Steele than he is to Aranda. One guy will be a major college HC in 5 years and the other is a fat piece of shite that can't recruit and will be out of major college football in 5 years

I loved Chavis when he was at LSU because he the only one who could stop Johnny FOotball.

Chavis coached one of the best defenses of all time back in 2011. He will always have respect from me.

So by hiring fat arse Chavis, they went from fricking horrible to just horrible.

Going from the 80th pass defense in the country to the FOURTH is a pretty dramatic jump.

Going to 4th is like smoke and mirrors.

When teams can run at will on your defense it isn't because of A&M's great pass defense. It is because the run defense is so bad that there is no reason to pass. Look at what LSU did to A&M's run defense last year. Didn't even need to pass when Guice is running for over 250 yards all by himself.

A&M's passing stats vs. LSU probably looked pretty damn good but LSU still hung 50 plus on A&M. Stats are deceiving.

Take ANOTHER look at the stats from Mark Snyder's final year (2014).

A&M was 109th against the run AND 80th against the pass that season.

Well, if A&M wants to stay with Sumlin and Chavis, why should the rest of the conference mind?

Time will bear witness that O is the real deal. LSU has already rerouted from the downward spiral under the non-leadership of Les.

Heading in to last season, y'all thought you were going to win the National Title. You saw a downward spiral in 6 games?

Aside from the usual quacks (who will show again this year), there weren't many Tiger fans predicting a Nat'l Championship.

To be fair, we said the same about your mom's pussy too. While we were all hittin it, it was top 5 pussy, now that we've found better, we don't consider your mom's to be that good anymore.
You went all out with that retort. You must have dug into your box of middle school insults and chosen blindly.

Well he did have maybe the most TALENTED DEFENSIVE ROSTER to play with at LSU,which can make any DC look good. Which is why he's struggling at aTm.

False. Didn't Herbstreet put y'all in the playoff in his preseason prediction? I didn't see a single Swamp Kitten call him crazy. At the VERY worst, y'all were one game away.

Head to head.

but it's gonna be hard to statistically argue that orgeron is a better HC

1 > 0

Therefore: Ogre > Sumlin.

That wasn't hard at all.

Their pass defense stats? Etling went 20-28 for 324 yards and two scores.

TALENT

Compare the talent he had at LSU vs the talent he has at aTm.

I know you mean that jokingly but, if you look at what his defenses did statistically at LSU and what they have done at A&M this just happends to be true about Chavis.
