6'4" 189 per rivals, which probably mean upper 170's or low 180's. which is scrawny for that height. long arms as well, probably makes for low bench numbers

WTF diffrence does it make Kevin Durant couldn't bench 185 in College and is now one of the best athletes in the world

weight room numbers don't reflect real strength when your tall and Skinny

AJ can only bench 185, but he can throw a football over a mountain.

According to this, Manziel was only benching 210 as a Sr. in High School.

I already said it doesn't make a difference. I just wondered if anyone else found it as hard to believe as I did.
I have no idea how or even if basketball players lift. So, the fact that Durant couldn't bench 185 is surprising but not unbelievable to me.

Long arms = limited bench. Especially at that age.

Put four more years worth of weight training behind it then you begin to have comparable numbers.

Half of this discussion should be about body development from 18 years old to 22.

This was one thing that used to piss me off back in school when I'd see these little dudes benching so much. They didn't have to push the weight up near as far as I did. I'm also 6'4". I graduated hs at 190 lbs. When I was a junior I weighed 170 and was benching 250.
And, I'm not bragging. In fact, the point is, I was not that strong compared to others my weight.

Trent R weight is about what AJ is now. TR could lift the house.
Bench 465 and they made him stop at that weight.

I don't know if you've ever seen photos of Mccarron, but he doesn't exactly strike me as someone who was a weight room junkie in high school.

I find it really easy to believe. He was skinny as Hell. If he was lazy in the weight room, 185 could easily be his max. 185 was higher than my bench max my senior year that lifted weights for 4 years, but I was a 5'8" 145 lb soccer player.

Man,do y'all have it going great or what? Who cares if a flag girl can beat him on the Quad? Joker has won back to back NCs and is favored for a third.

Where did AJ go to high school? I don't know much about him

I mean he may never have really lifted in high school since he was a QB, and with limited time the hs coaches may have felt it would be a better use of his time to do other things...I say all this without any knowledge but just thinking out loud

Once again, the point was not that I'm concerned that he was that weak or something. It really doesn't matter to me. It just surprisedmore and I found it hard to believe.
