When LSU hired Saban, most were questioning the hire, and frankly, wondering who the heck he was in many cases. Saban turned LSU around, won the SEC and eventually a national title in very quick fashion.

Saban also showed that he could recruit very well.

When Freeze was hired by OM after the recommendation of their hiring committee, which included Archie, most peopled laughed. It seemed absurd.

Fast forward three years and Freeze is the coach of arguably the best team in the country and the likely front-runner to win the SEC. He is recruiting at an elite level and will possibly have three of more NFL first rounders this spring.

Finally, OM has beat Saban and Alabama two years in a row and seemed to be the better coached and more talented team Saturday night.

As bizarre as it sounds, is Hugh Freeze the "new" Nick Saban of the SEC?

Can we wait until Freeze wins at least the division before comparing him to the best coach of the generation?

Are you serious? Let Freeze win a national championship, or an SEC championship, or even just GET to Atlanta before you put him in the same category as a top 3 all-time coach.

Let me ask you a question: If Bama played OSU on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa and lost the turnover battle 5-0, do you think OSU only beats Bama by 6?

Freeze is a very good coach who is on the rise, but let's not get ahead of ourselves in evaluating him or his team based on this game.

He is better than Saban, better than Johnny Vaught and definitely better than that dumb arse Bear Bryant. Bama fans can get used to the arse kicking because it will continue.

Yeah, his biggest wins are the product of a lot of luck. Kind of like the mulligan Saban received against LSU in 2011 and Colt McCoy's injury in the 2009 BCS championship game

This. Saban has SEC and National Titles. Freeze has 0. Wait until he has at least one of those to start making the connection. No doubt he is a good coach with a very talented team. I am not calling him Saban anytime soon.

Probably not. Saban has had a sustained success over many years. Freeze isn't close to that yet. Of course, anything is possible but I don't expect the same kind of consistent dominance from Freeze that we've seen from Saban.

No, it won't. If Freeze is as successful as you want him to be, y'all will be looking for a new coach in about two years and once again will be swirling with the dregs in the barrel.

You people are completely missing the point...right over your heads.

When Saban arrived at LSU, he had no national titles and no real respect.

I am asking, is it possible that Freeze is the new Saban of the conference...not if he is as accomplished as Nick Saban.
