Is Florida a better job than LSU?

Seems like Florida had no problem getting Strickland to quit Ms. State in the middle of the year when they came calling.
Meanwhile, LSU can't even get a phone call with a coach at a commuter school in Texas.

Who in the frick is Strickland?

I think they are comparable. LSU HS prospects are much more loyal to the home state school though.

The only thing LSU has that's better is fan support.

LSU is probably 5th-10th on Herman's radar.
He is looking for a Texas/west coast school or a significant pay raise at Houston to keep him another year.
Only way I see LSU getting him is if they offer 7.5-8 million/year.

This. LSU is the only show in town, where as in Florida you have some other big hitters to compete with.
Richt to Miami didnt help.

Herman isn't going to make a lateral move to LSU

They're really very similar: pay well, great fan base, first class facilities and so on. The only real distinction is LSU has a captive recruiting ground with top rate talent.

Hey dodo... I mean rodo. That wasn't the question. Stay on topic.

Yes. Florida is one of the top 5 jobs in the nation, IMO.
LSU is a job that most coaches would covet though.

I'm completely objective in this debate. I think LSU is an easier place to win. LSU is a sleeping giant if they can get politics out of the Football Program.
eta - Florida's population is 5 times that of Louisiana but only 3 real top tier DI College Football teams. There are many more recruits in Florida and many more out of state suitors for them. LSU isn't recruited by as many teams as Florida and they manage to keep most of their instate talent.

I don't get that line of reasoning. Bear always used to say that if UF ever got a coach, they would be hell to beat. They finally got one in Spurrier and everybody saw what they are capable of. The recruiting base is second to none. Their athletic dept. obviously supports all of their sports. All of the NCs they have won, in multiple sports, proves that. Only Stanford has a better athletic dept., IMO.

People who think that coaches are going to quit their job in the middle of the season to take a job are crazy, especially coaches that have a chance at the playoffs
