He drove himself away by sucking for two and a half years. The fan base gave him every chance. To be fair, he inherited a bad roster, but nobody made the team half arse it until January each year.

He won 19, 20, and 24 games in his three years, the latter being a run to the sweet 16.

For a women's basketball school, those are pretty good numbers for a men's program.

I mean, we are recruiting extremely well for a historically bad basketball program.

We had 18 wins this year with a good number of them on the road and some against huge named BB schools that make the NCAA tournament annually for the most part.

In game coaching does leave a lot to be desired.

That last team started playing really well late. If that good run started a game or two later, Martin would have been 0-3 making the tournament.

He's a terrible in game coach, that is for sure. Zero excuse for AU to lose last night. A jr high coach could have sealed a W last night. With that said, it's Auburn, and he gives AU the best chance at consistency in any positive form on the talent he brings in alone.

If he's worth his salary, he'll go out and find the best defensive assistant that is willing to come to AU this offseason.

Completely ignored in your post is that Bruce's press has been completely neutered by new rules and emphasis

Bruce struggles in game and his half court sets can be annoying, but he offset it with his press for sure. Without it, it is easy to see us struggle

He's got to adjust, because folks will accuse him of letting the game pass him by if he doesn't evolve with the game.

I think AU made a great hire, he recruits lights out and basically quashed the notion that AU can't pull top talent because they aren't a Nike school. He brings instant energy and enthusiasm to the Arena, he's a likable guy that promotes AU well.

But he better step up his in-game coaching though, he's got too much talent on that roster can't waste it.

All of this. People just don't realize how bad it was at auburn. Investments in facilities and a recognized coach have paid dividends everywhere you look except the W/L column.

Last night was bad!

Who else could auburn get that would be better?
