What? Johnson literally came in RIGHT AFTER Howard won a national championship in '83. Johnson's greatest strengths were convincing all the palm beach convicts they could commit as much crime as they wanted as long as it was confined to a 53.5x100 yard field.
He did great things and created great teams, but saying he took 2 programs from almost the ground up is a straight lie. He walked into a gold mine twice

I happen to believe Alabama big boying Bobby Bowden is the dumbest move of all time.

Yes. And kudos to you for finally making a good message board post.

Jimmy Johnson stepped into a great program in Miami and was lucking enough to arrive with Aikman in Dallas.
Jimmy assembled a young and dominant defense and a running game. Troy Aikman is a great piece of that puzzle, but Jimmy wins a Super Bowl or two because of the Herschel Walker trade first and foremost.

The Steve Walsh trade to the Saints helped too. Saints gave up a 1st and 3rd in 91, and a 2nd in 92. The cowboys had 3 1st round picks and 18 overall in 91.

Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer, Tuberville in his prime, Lou Holtz was run off. In basketball, Bill Self was begging to come here after Nolan was fired, but Broyles thought he had to hire a black coach in order to avoid media criticism.
Broyles deserves praise, but he also shoulders a lot of blame for us not reaching our full potential.

Remember that time Tennessee fired Phil Fulmer and then spent the next decade embarrassing themselves? Remember when both of our delusional fan bases thought we were hiring Gruden because that's what we "deserve" as programs competing for national championships? First rate programs don't take three or four hires to bounce back.
1998 was a long time ago, friend. 1998 is gone and is never coming back. The years have a way of adding up on you. Don't worry, you'll fit right in with us, Nebraska, and Georgia Tech. It's not so bad, we get to wear denim on Fridays if we pay two dollars.

I really can't wait until you are all eating your words. Basing his abilities by his stint at Ole Miss is just dumb. His history since that job speaks for itself and I think he is going to do great ! Love the Canada hire can't wait to see what he can do with the talent at Lsu.
After firing Miles our offense improved drastically with a tight ends coach calling the plays. There is no reason to believe that Canada isn't a better coordinator than Steve Esminger.
