Jimmy is better than any Coach in history Arkansas history.

He would have left anyways. And he wasn't winning a NC with Arkansas

2nd rate programs usually do stuff like this all the time

Arkansas isn't the best at hiring coaches.

Frank Broyles was pretty good.
Jimmy Johnson stepped into a great program in Miami and was lucking enough to arrive with Aikman in Dallas.
The entire Miami Dolphin situation made me wonder how good Jimmy really was.

Hiring Coach O is the dumbest move of all-time

Explain how it wasn't dumb?
Killed your program.
Killed your program.

UGA offering Goff instead of Spurrier. Or losing out on Erk because they wanted an extended contract. Oh what could have been.

I would put Arkansas track record of head and assistant coaches against any other program in the SEC all time. Not because I'm a hog fan, but because it's incredibly good

Jimmy Johnson was a very good coach, but what he did at Miami really could not have been done at any other school. He took a school with virtually no history in football and convinced a group of athletes to actually get participate in football instead of gang warfare. They were incredibly talented but also had a huge chip on their shoulders from not being recognized. Then he let them play how they wanted to, basically being the rule breakers of the sport and to hell with the penalties. It was as close to a perfect storm as a school can have. A city awash in athletes that wanted to stay home because their home city has a unique culture far away from basically everywhere else they could play football and a coach that wasn't afraid to recruit them or deal with their issues even somewhat encouraging it.
We don't have a twentieth of their talent base, are surrounded by other schools, and would never have allowed that "culture" to take hold (we got close under Richardson at one point but basketball isn't the same as football).

The list of coaches who get the keys to rthe Ferrari and wreck it is long. Jimmy actually took Miami to the next level.
Jimmy was smart enough to know he wasn't going to win early in his Dallas career. Where lucked out was finding a GM as dumb as Mike Lynn.

Actually Howard Schellenberger not Jimmy Johnson is the one who made Miami something after being nothing
Jimmy Johnson just added onto what was already created

Yup, and Schnellberger's natty at Miami actually belonged to Auburn.
Can't believe that arrogant frick had the balls to walk into Jordan-Hare on his retirement tour with FAU in 2011.
My only regret so far in life is not running across the field from my seat and RKO'ing his geriatric arse.

Jimmy caused the first penalties to be leveled against any program at Arkansas by hr NCAA, combined with his recruiting tactics at OSU took him out of the running, same with Switzer coming home at that time.
The time was when death penalties were being handed out in conference while every school in it was being investigated and slapped with probation and sanctions other than Arkansas.

I doubt Jimmy Johnson would have pulled off at Arkansas what he did at Miami. But, it is a question many Hog fans consider.
