Also...if it's so easy to QB behind a good offensive line, then why hasn't LSU produced an AJ McCarron type QB since Flynn left after the '07 season? LSU's recruiting mirrors our own in many respects and yet LSU can't seem to find a play maker to fill the QB spot despite the dominant line play, talented RBs, and skilled WRs.
Maybe you just don't give McCarron enough credit? I mean...he's only the third QB in NCAA history to lead his team to back-to-back unanimous national championships.

As long as McCarron doesn't throw INTs, he's done his job.

Not hard to do with 2 RBs avg 7 ypc, 3 1st rounders on the OLine, wide open WRs and 8 seconds to throw. Did you watch any of the games?
Gets it. Homer gumps gonna homer though.

Does he? Then explain why LSU hasn't had similar success at the QB position despite having similar talent at the skill positions as well as the offensive line.

quote:Well, you see, these two guys named Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson just so happened to sign with LSU...and they wouldn't have even been able to be successful at Alabama, much less anywhere else. They were just terrible quarterbacks that you couldn't do much with. In fact, what LSU was able to accomplish with them as starters is nothing short of fantastic.

bunch of haters in here....every fan base in here would trade their starter for AJ besides A&M and maybe UGA.

Sorry but LSU doesn't have Cooper running wide open in the secondary like Bama does - and their line isn't near as good as Bama's has been. AJ gets a lifetime back there.

Granted. But your buddy said it wasn't hard to do when you have all of the other crap. You and I just proved to him that it still can be difficult if your QB isn't (at the very least) semi-competent.

he's pretty underrated

He's not anymore. He gets his kudos from most knowledgeable fans, and while the criticism about him playing on loaded teams is valid as far as it goes, he makes excellent decisions (most of the time *cough*goal-line interception at TAMU*cough*) and, despite what people say, a mediocre quarterback can be the bane of even the best teams. See LSU 2011, the best team in BCS history not to win the title. Hell, one of the best teams, period. Certainly better than half the ones who did win the title.
This is what makes me insane. The first pick was far worse and a terrible read of coverage. Absolutely inexcusable. The second interception was a last second switch by the defenders, and 90% of the time that pick play works the second it leaves AJ's hand.

See 2011 LSU. The two teams were pretty much even but, by the end of the year, AJ McCarron was the difference as clearly shown in the 2012 BCS National Championship Game. He had the poise, patience, and skill that Jordan Jefferson just didn't have.

I beg to differ. Western Kentucky sacked him six times alone this past season. The '12 offensive line was amazing at run blocking but they occasionally broke down in pass protection.

The first interception bounced off his receiver's (Kenny Bell) hands.

Leak doesn't get much respect at all, even from UF fans.

I think you believe you could actually do better than AJ don't you??? It's a lot easier to QB on a forum huh? Troll.
