Honestly figured this would quickly turn into HISTORY DONT MEAN EVERYTHING BAMMER and responses in kind from Bammers.

The rivalry has a great history, I enjoy being able to discuss it with Bammer and Barner alike.

Shula is a good guy and a class act. I have met him and had a good bit of interaction with him prior to him becoming coach. He was in over his head as the Bama coach but I never pulled against him and wanted him to be succesful. It was an impossible situation and just wasn't in the cards.

Yep. If you "hate" Shula then you are either a moron, an a-hole or both. Shula accepted an impossible situation, did the best he could, and most importantly of all did his part to clean things up and get our image back. It was hard to see that then because we were all so dang sick of losing, but any slip ups with the NCAA and not only would we have been hammered but there is no way Saban would have come to town.

I very much root for Shula to succeed.

I just noticed...a thread about the Iron Bowl that didn't turn into a massive troll fest....maybe there is hope for the SECr.

I'd surmise that the trolls don't know their team's history all that well so they avoid a thread of this nature.

#14 over #7 in '86 is an upset.

Same here. I thought he was placed in an impossible situation and conducted himself with class.

Great post, but can we please please separate him and Cam...

Hahahaha - as a Falcons fan I am ok with him right where he is.

Actually, I thought he did a pretty good job with Cam last season and the year before. Their O-line, RBs and WRs are a total dumpster fire now though. I'm not sure anybody to get that working. And Cam has really seemingly emotionally hit the bottom. Bad situation all around.

Look, I don't get the problems between Alabama and Auburn fans.

My best friend, my BEST friend... is a Clemson fan, and that's close enough, right?
