System should have stayed the same and just taken the top 4,8,16, whatever.

I don't necessarily like the playoff idea, but if we're going to do it, I 100% would support using the BCS ranking to decide it.

And what brought you to bright on that epiphany? BB at 68 and teams feel slighted. Welcome to my side, eight years late.

i mean if the top 4 or 5 teams are from the SEC then so be it...but due to the sec playing each other, teams that are really good are going to lose and be left out just because of their record

Since the Rose Bowl is going to be a part of it, the Big Ten and Pac 12 are going to make sure that they're going to be the two playing there.

Cowherd, not the best to quote, likely the very worst.

People fret way too much.

Most of the 4 spots will be an open and shut case.

Some years there will be 2-3 teams thinking they deserve the last spot and those that don't get it will bitch.

They would bitch under any system though.

Can someone explain to me why they just don't use the current BCS system and take the top 4-6 teams?

Because the public and media has demonized its use of "computers"

So people bitched about computers and now are gonna bitch about humans bias.

The fans of the teams that think they belong and don't make it will always bitch, they'll never admit their team just failed to qualify, the system is always rigged against them.

And don't forget one included being upset about a better team being included too. Can that actually happen...again. I laugh.

I like Cowherd. I know no one else does here, but I think he's one of the most intelligent at ESPN

The negative about the computers is that nobody knows the formulas they use. No transparency=suspicion.

Good offense better than good defense. Shall I go on? The guy is great at predicting the past. Ala' Howerd Cosell, "that was a dumb play call". Please tell me that you do not consider yourself brighter about CFB due to listening to Cow.

Some computer polls are good, some are terrible, that's why a lot of different ones exist and why the BCS uses 6 and throws out the highest and the lowest.

Contrary to common belief, since the 2003 season the computers are weighted so that they don't even really matter if the human polls think otherwise.

In reality the computer rankings were merely acting as a tiebreaker if the human polls were super close.

Computers have flaws (no eyeball test, only as good as data and algorithm)

Human polls have flaws (humman bias, emotional response)

If you're wanting a perfect system you will never have one. This isn't the NFL with 32 teams tucked nicely into divisions. There are 120+ teams playing across 10+ conferences all making their own schedules.

The BCS was fine, the playoff will be fine, most likely a tad better than the BCS.

No secret to the formulas when reviewing the results. A computer is programmed to conveniently express a programmer's opinion. Too obvious to not notice.
