Ah, the ole Heath Evans story. Chronicled Saban lover Heath Evans.

I've always been impressed how nobody remembers that incident quite the way good ole Heath does.....

After that BS line, you can't believe anything after it. His argument before was how it wasn't about Smith it was about the team. The bad part is he actually believes normal people buy what he says when he thinks up his excuses. That they just forget what he says minutes before.

amazing how many people actually know Saban in here, wow I never knew.

its funny to me how many people say he is such a dbag but a vast majority of his ex players absolutely love the guy which tells me way more then what the media does.

also if you have ever actually coached you know how much those relationships mean especially in young men and women and how much you care about their growth and success in life.

does he literally lose sleep over it? doubtful. I do however fully believe he does care about the guys and their future.

Always amusing to see where bama fans find another way to say Saban walks on water. Not losing sleep after losing a game? I watched him here at LSU & he was an absolute terror to the media...and can only imagine how he was with his players...when he lost a game. He lost once to Eli & the Black Bears in T.S. and you'd have thought he was going to explode he was so mad. Bull Shite .

It's just incredible how people are so simple that they can't read an article and post without immediately assuming it is either an ENDORSEMENT or a CONDEMNATION.

Mine was neither. Mine was that it was interesting that something like this, a kid who picked another situation where basically all the normal reasons for a kid leaving (PT, homesick, not good enough, etc) were not there and the situations at the new and old were almost identical, is what really drove Saban nuts because he HAS to know why so he can FIX it.

But that's too complex. SABAN DEVIL BAMMER DEFEND is much easier for somebody with a brain the size of a peanut than a discussion about something like that.

The point of the original thread was how much Saban is into his players, to the extent losing & winning are irrelevant. There was nothing there that referenced how much He HATES to not be able to control a player's mind or fix it. And you have no idea as to size of my brain. Saban is not that complex and/or hard to figure out, sorry.

Thing about playing for Saban is its not for everybody. He demands like no other, expects effort like no other and constantly grinds on you to improve.

He is not your friend, He is not your buddy and it is not a democracy. It is a fascist state where he has absolute power and u are expected to be all out every play. If u don't he will be in your shite like right now. The trade off is winning. Players have to decide if they can take the Saban grind. Most can. Some can't. He's not the first to leave and won't be the last. We've had players leave every single year. I'd rather them go because we know we have a team that is all out and Saban can trust.
He is/will be a great player, just not a Saban type. That's cool, I probably wouldn't want to play for his arse either

That is a leap you made all by yourself but everyone has to take this article with a grain of salt, like most things.

Douche is just an arse trying to cover his image. It's called damage control spin doctors.

From a business standpoint I am a fan of Saban. He is the best there is and maybe ever was at his job.

Having said that, I think what he told Lowe is complete and total bullshite. He processes players every year and the gray shirt rules were basically put in place because of Saban telling players when they arrived for fall ball that they would not have a scholly until the Spring or next year. He did this at LSU and he continued to do it at Bama.

There is inconsistency here in what he says (which is easy) and what he does (which is undeniable).

I personally know several players that have played for him and they would tell you this is bullshite too.

I am sure, as a Catholic and staring at the tail-end of his career, he would like to think of himself in this way, but his ambition, determination and desire for perfection will always outweigh his personal affinity for individual players. It is simply the way he is wired.
I find this post, along with many of the others on this subject, to be shallow minded and naive. Obviously folks don't have a clue as to what a TEAM is all about and where the coaches AND players of a TEAM should put their priorities. Today, Coach Saban took the scholarship left open by Mo Smith or Sheffield and gave it to a walkon (Moseley) who has busted his arse and done (for the team!) what was asked of him....some folks need to get a clue.
