I think you are just being a homer- State is going to have a top 6 SEC defense- you guys will be 11th or 12th- thats just not a 1-2 player difference

None of this shite here. Thats like saying we won 9 games last year you won 4 and we will better better and you will be the same therefore we will be at least 5 games better. Need more of breakdown than that.
quote:

Our DT's will be require them to be doubled because they are very good, thus making our DE's even better than they are

We said the same thing last year. You need balance. One area of the line cant make the other area good when its not. Once again, OM last year.
quote:

You're DT's will be single blocked alot, thus negating some of the talent your DE's have. As well as making your interior run defense soft.

I really think the suprise of our defense this yera will be our DT's. I dont understand why state fans cant see a similiarity between Martin and Bennett in there upcoming RS freshmen year and Cox and Boyd in their freshman year. You know first hand that young talented DT's can hold their own if they are big enough. We are incrediably deep at DT. We have 6 guys that can come in and theres not much of a drop off in talent or size. We are balance as well with 3 guys who have been in the system for at least a year and 3 who are uppper classmen. The logic you are using for your DL is the same logic we used last year. It doesnt work. You need a rush off of the end. Yes your DE's will be single blocked, but by SEC tackles.
quote:

Offensively, I think you guys will have to deal with more SS's in the box this season until your QB's prove you can make some defenses pay. That will slow your run game down some

Does this work against yall? Relf isnt a good passer and you have one good WR. You threw it 7 times against Florida. Once again I cant understand why state fans think like this when yall do the exact same thing. Plus did you watch our spring game? All we did was throw it deep. All of our QB's have cannons and Lee has really harped on throwing the deep ball to keep defenses honest. You cant stack the box against the spread.
quote:

Conversely, I think we see the SS's early, and get some really big plays out of it because of the way our passing game has improved due to finally having experienced, competent WR's and a QB that keeps getting better

This is the thing. You have one better reciever than we do and a QB who isnt a great passer. Sure if he has all day to throw and the defense is suprised because this is only the 10th time he's throw then yeah he'll complete a lot.

Exactly- he needs to re-watch the Egg Bowl. The RB comparision is at worst a wash

Your OL was better and our defense was worst. Be objective. Only state fans would think Ballard and Perkins are better than Bolden, Davis, and Scott.

Easy now. I'll take Vic (the warrior) Ballard and Ladarious Perkins & Relf over your two starters. OLine? You're assuming you'll be better because we lost our starting AA LT & starting C. I can understand your reason for thinking that, but I'll wait til I see some games before I'll believe it.

We return 8 guys who started last year on the line including everyone else. You just lost a first round LT and are starting a frickin DT to replace him. Good God. I can understand your stupidity with the RB's, but its just asinine if you think your OL is better than ours.

Also your three best posters, NIH, TD's, and slope have all said that our RB's are better. This isnt some homer shite. The whole league and even your posters agree. I did say that on offense there wasnt much of a gap at any of the positions. I think your RB's and OL are going to be good, ours a little better. Just like I think our QB will be fine, but it would be silly to say he's already better than Relf.

Really?? LSUs trophy case from the last 10 seasons begs to differ.

aGAIN, we just went through possibly our worst decade of football in our history. This isn't the same Miss State you have been playing the last 10 years

possibly....but until you actually beat a coach atleast once, i would refrain from talking shite about him. Especially a coach with the hardware and record that Miles has.

Well hell, you would have thought by your reasoning you sob's would be pre-season ranked in the top 20. What's the fn reason you're not besides just coming off a 4 win year and losing to jack st and Vandy?

Since you're so loaded at EVERy position.... are you predicting 9 or 10 wins this year for your team

No. Im predicting OM to have 6 wins before the egg bowl and I expect state to have 7. I also expect state to win it since they're the better team. It will be very close was the whole point of this. Coonass and Bundy were saying they'd win by 20. So if yall do win and win your bowl game then you have another 9 win season, which everyone expects and we have a 6-7 win season. Is that so unrealistic?

I said we are 1-2 players away from being as good as State, not Alabama

I can handle some of that. Maybe not a 20 point win but I can definitely a see a 2 TD difference. It's a LONG time away, 11 games before that. Many of things can happen before then. Hell, I want to see what kind of QB you have out there before any predictions. I say state will have 7 maybe 8 wins before egg bowl.

Key for us to build on what we did last year, I think we have to win 2 out of our first 3 against AUB, LSU, and GA.

State +3.5 @ Aubarn (take State on the money line- easy win...get that line asap before it drops also)

Lsu +1 @ State- not surprised but no way I'd bet it given the history

State +3.5 @ Georgia- good spread, should be a great game

S.C -1.5 @ State- gonna be a good football game, but State wins at home

Bammer -7 @ State- good spread

State +9 @ UPig- should be around 7, I think 9 is a little high

Mississippi +12 @ State- easy money, if they stay within 20 I'll be surprised

Exactly. If Relf, Cox, Boyd, or a OL go down yall will be in trouble. Just like if a corner or LB goes down for us. Last year would have been a lot different if we didnt loose Lockett and our top guard. We win at least 6 probably 7. The wrong injuries kill teams that arent deep at every position. If say a DT, WR, S, or LB got hurt last year instead of an OL and DE our season is a lot different.

i know it's not kosher to call attention to one's own post, but...

wondering what CoonassBulldog's thoughts are about 4 out of 7 lines instantly moving away from MSU.

not surprising, until games are being played, people like yourself or other random fans, see a game between State/LSU, State/GA, State/AU.... they will go with the big named program early on

State is much improved and could do themselves a lot of good in the future with a big year. Here is the problem LSU, UF, GA, AU, and BAMA have all consistently out recruited State over the years. IMO they will do about the same as they did last year and will win a game like LSU or BAMA and lose to USCE or TENN. 3rd in the west.

State won't recruit very well under Mullen. They will always just be mediocre.

I like the fact that Mullen does not sugar coat things to kids & tells them if they want something they will have to go get it. He wants the hard nosed, disciplined kids. I like it.
