You are aware that those 12 people aren't handcuffed together and don't actually live inside the meeting room, right?

How many meetings have you been in with Dan Jones when someone opposed a view that he strongly believed in? Describe the reaction. I will hang up and listen.....

5 members on the IHL board who attended Ole Miss voted to have Dan find his successor.

The lady on the board attended OM law school but found it not to her liking.

Sounds like the board was full of OM attendees.

Crimson Legend - aren't you the Bama coach in the press box with the binoculars?

So what are you saying? Are you suggesting that if OM had its own 5 member BoT that they would still have voted to remove Jones?

No, I'm the one in charge of buying referees. But in my spare time, I visit old friends in Oxford.

A very typical LIBERAL reaction when you have nothing to say. Stick out your tongue and put your fingers in your ears.
If it looks like a liberal, acts like a liberal, and "literally" disregards any other opinion except the self-made praises of itself.....it is a liberal.

If you think Dan bowed out nobly for the good of Ole Miss, you don't know Dan. Good people are insubordinate every day. Unless you work for yourself...you usually get fired.

NONE of us knows the inside whole story.

And yet...that is exactly what you are doing RIGHT NOW except you seem to think that calling someone a liberal is highly insulting.

I think it's pretty obvious why you and I are on two different sides of this issue, and we are probably on opposite sides of most political issues. You seem to champion everything about Ole Miss that has nothing to do with being an educational institution.

Quite the contrary, Crimson Legend, my father graduated in the top ten per cent of his class in med school at UMMC. He was recruited for med school in person on the Ole Miss campus. he didn't have to interview for the spot...they gave him one. He served humanity for 35 years as an excellent, very intelligent physician.
I LIVED in the med school years in Jackson and UMMC is very dear to me. UMMC saved my son's life
a few years ago. UMMC is one of the best kept secrets in the U.S., and I will be forever grateful to them for taking excellent care of my son. I felt like my dad may have been pleased with my decision to go there. UMMC has fostered some might fine medical heroes over the years.

Are you speaking of the traditions v.s. academics? Ole Miss is a SUM total of things loved for various reasons but most especially loved by some because it is their heritage and legacy. It isn't brain v.s. Brawn. I do not separate the mascot, Dixie, or name Ole Miss in the name of apologetic revision. NO ONE can prove that any symbols have held Ole Miss back from the current century or any other time. That is meaningless supposition. It is used by the powerful and greedy to feather their own agenda. It is not about race either....it's about erase.
Enrollment is up because Ole Miss lowered the ACT entrance to 16. When I graduated from high school, that score would barely get you into Northwest. Lower the bar...and they will come.
Enrollment has not increased because Dan Jones came to Ole Miss to be chancellor. It's just that now anybody with a pulse can get in! That is shameful, my friend to have no higher academic goal than 16 on the ACT. So I ask you, what are you cheering on in the name of academics with this statistic looming out there?

What happened here this week...big mouth money folks did not intimidate the IHL. Dan Jones gets to see what it is like to be misunderstood, reprimanded and unable to do a damn thing about it. YES! That is exactly what he did about Col. Reb. There was an election, but you had to vote for HIS slate of nominees. Well, he was offered an extension by the IHL and he chose not to accept it on THEIR terms. They did their job courageously never giving in to the onslaught uncalled for barrage of criticism. Principle won out over millionaires. It's the first promising sign that Ole Miss may find its identity again instead of some generic copy of every other place on the earth. ANYBODY who has a problem with Ole Miss has a gazillion other schools to choose from. 'Course, you won't get in with a 16, but if you are a smart fellow you can get that ACT score up and move on!

NONE of us knows everything about Jones's transgressions concerning UMMC. We just know that 9-2 they felt he needed to be replaced. We have all reacted by emotion. Thank God, that IHL board put emotions aside and actually restored a little dignity back to Ole Miss.

No, you and I would never see eye to eye. Praise the Lord and pass the peas!

Please stop. Colonel Reb has been gone for over 10 years as the official mascot (By the way, Dan Jones had nothing to do with removing him). Both Colonel Reb and Ole Miss have not gone away in that time. Life will continue as it has. Your essays make you look fricking retarded.

Well, apparently your opinion is not shared by everyone or Dan would still be the chancellor after September.

PLUS it doesn't matter how retarded, fricking, fracking, or otherwise you think I am.
YES, Dan jones held the election for a new mascot and told students he would discard any ballots with a Col. Reb write-in! Doesn't matter! Damn sure we are not black bears.

When students went to take a petition to reinstate Col. Reb, he went out the back way and would not discuss it with them.

It could all be settled by a vote tomorrow, but you are right, that will be stymied forever if possible. OR maybe not!

This year’s freshmen are better prepared for college course work, with an average ACT score of 24.3, compared to an average of 24.1 last fall. Their high school GPA increased too, from 3.46 to 3.49. Both measures have increased every year since 2010.

Well this certainly puts a kink in your argument.....

quit making shite up. Hypocrite.

How so? Intuitively, if you lower the admission requirements and make it easier to get in, more do, hence your enrollment increases. Your numbers are simply averages and speak nothing about enrollment numbers. Imagine what those averages would be if you had say, a 21 minimum.
Even other OM folks on here complain about the low ACT requirement, even though they wrongly blame the IHL rather than attributing it to the group that did it; Ole Miss.

and it completely demolishes his argument that Dan Jones hasn't improved our student body since he's been here.....

His argument is that enrollment numbers are only up because of lower admission standards. If that were true, our averages would obviously be lower.

Nah, man. miss dixie's diarrhea of posts made me quit this thread. I can't read them without losing a part of myself each time I do. It's soul crushing.

So I guess he/she/it wins.

Ehh... Not so sure a Supreme Court order to lower admission standards is Ole Miss's doing.

ETA: Though I could be wrong, don't know what the admissions standards were before the Ayers case.
