Why are people talking about basketball as if it were an exception? Just in the last 10 years, only two POY winners led their teams to the NCAA title -- Anthony Davis and Tyler Hansbrough. Basketball is hardly an exception to the team rule.

I am a bigger Tebow fan than most. But it wasn't just Tebow on those Gator teams. He was surrounded with some amazing talent that helped a lot haha.

A single player can easily carry a team in a sport like basketball, unlike in sports like golf or bungee jumping.

Really. Between players like Spikes and Harvin, Tebow wasn't even the most talented player on the team.

In theory. But I was pointing out that the "best player" rarely carries a team to winning the championship (the topic of the thread), and even more rarely does so by himself. Even the two I named were surrounded by enormous talent. For every Danny Manning, you have dozens of teams that would never get a title if they had to depend on one player.

The Pouncey twins were two All-Pro linemen on those teams. They were the best players on those teams but O-linemen don't get much talk in football.

They also had Joe Haden, arguably the best corner in football.

Tebow was exposed in the NFL.

Which is true, and good points. I just brought up the first two names that occurred to me without giving it more thought.

Ummm...you seriously took my comment seriously? Ham was just playing with people with his post. This just isn't a serious thread.

Ummmm...yes? You gave no indication you were joking, and plenty of people believe exactly what you were saying.

Or are we playing the "I said something easily rebutted and now I'm joking" game?

Golf isn't a team sport. Bungee jumping isn't a sport. And, from my post just before, the Birmingham Midget Gumps isn't a real team. Get it?

In college, it actually is. Players win individually, but teams win collectively. If one player falters, the team suffers. So one player can help make or break a team, but it's a team effort. Hell, SEC teams have won the national title, iirc. Or are you, um, joking about how collegiate golf works too? Perhaps I get it better than you do? I just assumed the bungee jumping was you being pointlessly sarcastic.

Look, if it's important enough to you to act like a dick, it's way more important to you than it is to me. I was making an observation about team sports. So kindly frick off. Thanks.

It doesnt work in basketball either folks. If that were true wed be looking at 5 natties in 5 years. Does it help your chances more than in football or baseball? Well sure, but only because of simple math. Less players = more impact by one guy.

You said the two key words.

"Player".

"Team".

Yet still you don't seem to comprehend the critical difference?

Yes. Arkansas baseball = massive failures. This is nothing new though.
