Very slight "maybe" for football. Some players in football truly transcend...tebow, cam newton etc

Baseball..slim to none chance.

Generally speaking, you are correct--a single, great player in baseball can guarantee that team wins every game, especially if that player is not a pitcher. The only time this isn't the case is when that player is a member of the Birmingham Midget Gumps, the Aggie College for the Gay and Blind, or Arkansaa, in which cases the teams are just doomed.
