I haven't seen MSU play hardly at all this year, so I keep thinking back to last year and how MSU could do absolutely nothing on offense in Starkville

Chris Relf was the starter last year and the offense was tailored to him. Our offense is totally different than last year and much much better. We got in the red zone a good bit last year and then brought relf in to destroy the drive. We are much more efficient now. Not saying we will win but it's gonna be quite different.

If MSU wants to win this game, you choose kickoff and then do an onside kick. You play this game as if you're 10 points down from the get go, and you make Alabama feel something they haven't felt all year - real pressure. If you can put Bama in a situation where they are under pressure and have to throw it, you can make us one dimensional and you've got a shot. It's all key on jumping early and keeping the foot on the gas.

If you just want to make sure it's close, kickoff and play a grind game. You don't have the depth to win in a 4th quarter game, but you can score against the 2nd team defense if you want a respectable looking result

WE haven't been very aggressive in recent years. We didn't go after the win very hard. We played the field position and defensive game plan with y'all and tried to keep it close. We have the offense for the first time this year. We will play differently than year's past. Maybe that's why the spread is so high.

Good, I'm looking forward to it. Hope Bama's defense can rise to the challenge.

We have been great on opening drives this year. It's usually a no-brainer. But this might be one of those field position games. We'll take the ball though and try to take the crowd down a notch.

Ask 10erC how that worked out for them grinder

On the pass effeciency thing with AJ. He has done a very good job of managing and making good throws this season. Which is exactly all a 'Bama qb needs to do with the running game and defense you have. But man, most any of us on here could've made many of those throws vs UT. I mean, that # 27 cornerback for them was awful. On 2 td's that dude wasn't even in the picture when the ball was caught. Set up by the running game, I know. But good grief, if he's their starting cb, they get what they deserve. I'm not worried about our corners getting beat like that this weekend. I'm worried about our LB's covering the TE and RB's out of the backfield. We have to try and stop the running game first and make AJ beat us. But our LB's worry me in coverage.

That's the risk. You take the ball first and score. Even three or shoot even drain a little clock and have a 30 yard drive it will calm the crowd.

But you take a sack or a three and out and the crowd is gonna be a shite show.

Kickoff without a shadow of a doubt. It's much more likely that Mississippi State's defense will force a punt on Alabama's first offensive possession than it is for their offense to put up points on Alabama's defense the first time they have the ball. Getting a stop on the first series will give them more momentum than going three and out on offense to start the game. Also, there's a good chance that Mississippi State will be trailing at halftime so getting the ball on offense to start the second half will be huge for them.

I agree that MSU will be able to largely contain Alabama's WRs. I think Alabama will have to be patient on offense like you suggested with running the ball and underneath stuff. That's why I think the line is a little high. I don't see a lot of big plays / quick scores in this game.

MSU contains Bama's receivers IF they can stop the run without stacking the box. If the bulldogs have to single cover extensively to be able to stop the rushing attack, AJ will have another great day.

MSU has a better secondary than most, but they still need to be able to utilize safeties in pass coverage, or they're vulnerable.

Troy and Tennessee has put up over 200 rushing yards on Mississippi State this year and they are ranked only 47th in the country in rushing defense. I just don't see how they can stop Yeldon and Lacy.

I wish people would shut up about the Troy game. It was early in the season, at their shitty stadium, going through the motions, dropping touchdowns, not giving a shite, and playing people that you won't see on Saturday. Can we just drop that one? We also played the softest of zones the entire game in order to not show our defense on film.

MSU secondary is overrated due to playing 7 cupcakes. Cupcakes are delicious but there's no fiber.

No.

This comes with the territory when you are undefeated and highly ranked. People start picking apart every concievable weakness.

This whole thread is moot. We havn't won a coin toss all year (0-7). If we finally win one, we'll lose the game no matter what.

So far this year we play like shite in the third so I say kick it, get the ball back after half to minimize their time with the ball in the third. Completely wacky logic but it is just he way it is.
