If I am Mullen I. Bring the large economy size jar of KY butt jelly and use it freely before kickoff.

So what happens if you throw a pick six or fumble on your first possession and are in a hole 2 minutes into the game on the road with a team with no experience beating a Top 10 team?

Or if you go 3 and out and Bama shoves it down your throat?

Clearly, I'd kick to Bama hope to get a stop and then play possession by possession from there.

I'd kick. I'd always kick first.

What are you Bama fans doing? Even a little nervous about this game or ho hum, it's just Mississippi State? I know Saban and the players aren't thinking this way, but what about the fans?

I haven't seen MSU play hardly at all this year, so I keep thinking back to last year and how MSU could do absolutely nothing on offense in Starkville. I believe that MSU is better this year, but I just can't convince myself that the gap has closed that much and this game is in Tuscaloosa. I think MSU will be fired up and tough early but Alabama eventually wears them down and it is not that close in the end.

Typical Alabama / MSU game wear MSU's defense is fairly effective at keeping them in it for a while but the offense can't do enough to threaten Bama.

That was Relf's offense this is Tyler's offense. They are totally different. Tyler would be your starting QB had he gone to Bama instead of State. You're about to find out why Saban wanted Tyler Russell.

Always defer until second half. Bama will score first probably anyway you look at it. Use it as fuel and get your players pissed come out second half with the ball and team momentum.

I think this will be a close-ish game.

I don't know why everyone thinks this. Bama almost always elects to receive if they win the toss, and they have for several years now. Yet, all the fans, and even the announcers, are surprised every time.

"Wow! Saban is going against his tendency and receiving. He must want to set the tone early." says Danielson for the 23rd time in 3 years.

"Hmlkfjja Liiealkjf ammmm auuuh a!" Lundquist agrees.

I'm not going to make ridiculous claims, but I will tell you the differences of our offense this year as compared to last. Our offensive line lost 3 starters early last year, this year the entire line is very experienced and 100% healthy. We were playing Relf in our game against Bama because Russell had hurt his knee which resulted in a post season procedure, Russell has improved dramatically and our play book has opened up quite a bit as a result of not being limited to the run. We pass almost 50% of the time which has never happened at State in my memory. Perkins looks to be better than Ballard to this point in the season and our wide receivers are better than hey have ever been. Malcolm Johnson is likely the best receiving TE in the league and splits time with Marcus Green who was mid season all SEC. I may be completely wrong but our offense isn't what worries me, we have to find a way to slow your rushing attack in order to have a chance.

Maybe by Alabama's standards. Like most Alabama-MSU games I'm sure State will play enough early to make things look respectable for a little while, but at no point will anybody in the stadium feel like State has an actual chance to win the game.

If MSU wants to win this game, you choose kickoff and then do an onside kick. You play this game as if you're 10 points down from the get go, and you make Alabama feel something they haven't felt all year - real pressure. If you can put Bama in a situation where they are under pressure and have to throw it, you can make us one dimensional and you've got a shot. It's all key on jumping early and keeping the foot on the gas.

If you just want to make sure it's close, kickoff and play a grind game. You don't have the depth to win in a 4th quarter game, but you can score against the 2nd team defense if you want a respectable looking result.

Compare the stats of the 2 and you will not see much difference. If TR had the Bama O-line blocking for him his numbers would be retardedly better than McCarron's.

FIFY

Hard to put up big numbers when your beating the shite out of teams early in the 3rd quarter.

This is just stupid, you can't say that your team is better and then claim the QB with equivalent stats to yours wouldn't be as good on your team.

Not if he played in Alabama's system. McCarron is #1 in the country in pass efficiency, that's all we want and need. We're just fine, you can keep TR and keep beating South Alabama, Troy (barely), and the likes.

Meh, I'm pretty sure I remember Tyler Russell as the QB in last year's game. So maybe the offense has changed a bit, but I will remain skeptical they can do much better than last year against Bama's D (on the road this time).

I am sure Russell would succeed in Alabama's offense, but it's hard to do much better than McCarron is doing right now, so I'm not buying that Russell would have beat him out.

I'm glad MSU fans and players have confidence and maybe it will be a good game. Every other fanbase and team thus far as pretty much bent over before the opening kickoff. I guess Alabama will get its long awaited first test.
