1. Notre Dame
2. Florida State
3. Clemson
4. North Carolina

Create 4 Pods of 5 teams each

SEC West
Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, State

SEC East
TN, Georgia, Florida, Vandy, Kentucky

Southwest
TX, OU, A&M, Arkansas, Missouri

Coastal
ND, FSU, Clemson, SC, UNC

10 Game Schedule
Each pod combines with another pod to form a 10 team division. Pod combinations rotate each year so that you will play all teams at least once every 3 years, and home and home with all teams every 6 years.

Play your division (9)
Play one perm (1)
* when your perm is in your division, you will have a secondary perm as the replacement

Permanent Opponents
Alabama - TN or ND
Auburn - GA or OU
LSU - A&M or FL
Ole Miss - V or ARK
Miss State - KY or MIZ

Tennessee - AL or TX
Georgia - AUB or CLEM
Florida - FSU or LSU
Vanderbilt - OM or SC
Kentucky - MS or UNC

Texas - ND or TN
Oklahoma - CLEM or AUB
Texas A&M - LSU or FSU
Arkansas - SC or OM
Missouri - UNC or MS

Notre Dame - TX or AL
Clemson - OU or GA
Florida State - FL or A&M
So Carolina - ARK or V
No Carolina - MIZ or KY

The perm’s need to be worked out, but something like this..

UNC, UVA, FSU AND ND.

This is what the school admin would want. But, I’d prefer Vtech over UVA.

I’m looking at it from a travel perspective so…

1. University of Hawaii … because Hawaii
2. University of Alaska Anchorage (no football yet, but basketball and hockey)
3. San Diego State …California is run by idiots, but San Diego has the nicest weather.
4. University of Maine … always the best fresh lobster, cod, and seafood in the country

I don't wan to add any.

But if forced... UNC, UVA, WVU, Kansas.

We have enough great teams in the SEC. If we have to add, I'd rather it be state flagship schools to widen the footprint of SEC games. I know it doesn't mean more money, but there aren't 4 teams available that will mean more money for the SEC (which is why I'm against adding anyone).

Need to balance out the millions of metrosexual UT alumni we just brought in.

You play your pod every year. Of course the Iron Bowl would be played.

Alabama Schedule Example

PLAY POD
Auburn
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss State

+ ANOTHER POD
TN or TX or ND
GA or OU or CLEM
FL or A&M or FSU
V or ARK or SC
KY or MIZ or UNC

+ PERM
ND or TN or TN

You currently don't understand what's driving realignment at all.

Actually, it was the original thirteen:

Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Georgia Tech
Florida
Kentucky
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss. State
Sewanee
Tennessee
Tulane
Vanderbilt

Quickly became twelve after a few years, since Sewanee couldn't compete. Went to ten after Georgia Tech and Tulane unwisely left in 1963 and 1966.

Screw the entire idea of pods with 20 teams overall.

We need more Vandys and Gamecocks.

Schedules are rough enough as it is.
