Yeah, CU definitely would've been in here. Buffs had the #2 SOS in the nation, we're coming off a destruction of #1 Nebraska in the final week of the season and a victory over a top 5 Texas team in the Big 12 Title.

There rankings are based on before the bowls. My rankings aren't perfect, just opinion and taking everything into account.
Regarding 2001, Colorado would be top 4 quality, but they also had 2 losses despite the top 5 wins over Texas and Nebraska. While playing significantly weaker schedules, Power 5 conference champions Illinois and Maryland only had 1 loss.
